Related side note , I've used the same Senco Framepro 600's and 601's for 20 years . We usually need 2 of them on site at the same time for framing but I owned 3 because 1 seemed to consistently require an o ring or rubber piston bumper rebuild and there were always little rubber chunks in the firing cylinder , so whichever nailer was down would get rotated out of service while it was being repaired (that was back before I serviced them myself) , that went on for 6-7 years . I had always used the generic gun oil until 1 day I discovered Senco has it's on proprietary gun oil recommended for their nailers , Senco Moisture Shield , I started using that and my failures stopped overnight . Like literally almost zero o ring degradation on any of those guns for the following 8-10 years , so I know that at least in my experience a gun oil can make a huge difference for nailers that require oil

I had two Senco guns also for the same reason, wish I knew about the oil. I switched to Paslode, I’ve been happy with it so far.

I dropped one of the Senco guns off a second story onto concrete. The other one is my backup to the Paslode.

 

This may or may not be part of the problem. When I bought this new one the guy handed me the same name brand oil and told me to use that brand with the gun. I have a small bottle of oil I was using on the old gun that is some generic no name brand.

 

Yes I can. You can unclamp the front of it for a jam but it’s not Jamed up.

 

That new gun is a Hitachi. They bought Metabo and are using the name for their tool line. Nothing has changed other then the name. All my finish nailers are Hitachi and they range from 10-15 years old. They get used a lot.

unless the seals/ orings are proprietary i dont see how using pneumatic tool oil from a different company wouldnt work

 

Well I didn’t think that until I read OZ-T post. I only used this gun now and then at home and probably hasn’t shot more than 500 nails through it.

 

finish nailers are usually oil-less

oil in a oil-less nailer will kill it

 

Not Hitachi's. They are all oiled guns. 3 drops a day.

 

Have you tried taking it apart? Disconnect air obviously

Yep. Senco and Bostich are oil-less. Most others are oiled.

I've used both Senco and Hitachi a lot. They are both damn fine guns that very seldom jam. I ended up settling on Hitachi because a buddy get's me really good deals on them.

About 5 years ago I switched my framing guns over to the cheaper Hitachi NR90. It's 2 lbs lighter then the classic NR83. It's also about $150 cheaper. It used the same piston and driver as the NR83. The only difference is they moved the depth set to the trigger area and made it out of plastic. I got one because my NR83 was waiting on parts and I needed a framer in the meantime. SInce then, I've sold my 83 and have 2 90's.

I don't know who you use for coil nailers but if you ever need a new one get the MAX CN565S3 Super-Sider. By far the best gun I've ever used for siding. I easily have 10 boxes of galvi 15 degree coils through it in the last 3 years. In that time it's never failed and jammed once. It jammed because I forgot to mark out a strap and shot directly into it through the siding. It bent the nail in an S pattern. It took all of 15 seconds to release that nail. I don't usually tell people what tools to get but you will not find a better coiler nailer on the market.

 

Good to know. I haven't switched over to a cordless framer yet and probably won't. I like my air. lol

 

I mostly hate coil nailers but have a Bostich one for shearwall nails that exceed the shank size my Senco Framepro can shoot plus a Senco Siding coil nailer we used for fibre cement that is a nice gun

 

I got the cordless for framing pick up and small jobs , works great for what it is but they don't replace a regular air set up , at least not yet

 

Installed some under cabinet lighting. I need to fill the area on the right with one more module....
