What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

That could be rad. I really only need one extract switch for now though. I want to wire in some rigid ignite aux reverse lights

 

Replaced the LCAs today at 64k miles. Bushings were damaged on the last wheeling trip, leading to “clanks” and “clunks” when the suspension cycled at times over things like speed bumps or uneven curb ramps.

All OEM parts, including new OEM hardware. Shown before touching up scratches from shipping and sticker residue removal.




The hardware on the LCAs is know to corrode and become very difficult to get off, often requiring sawzall or other extreme means. I was able to get mine off with an impact gun easily enough, but my truck is also pretty new for a 2nd Gen being a 2015.

Hardware at 64k miles already began bonding.




Install was actually easier than anticipated and only took a few hours for both sides combined.

Bushings on these are designed to not be replaceable, though it is possible but a major PITA. New LCAs come fully loaded with bushings and ball joint. While aftermarket is certainly cheaper, I question the quality of the bushings and ball joint and stayed with OEM. They can be found much cheaper than dealer prices through online discount parts sites.

 

Had quite a weekend with the old boy.

Spent three days in the woods elk and deer scouting. Also checked some cameras I left up in a high valley I found last fall.

Got part of a tree stuck in my bumper.


Got my first dent since it became mostly a hunting, fishing, camping, hauling rig.



Popped most of it out. I think the rest will pop out too, just haven't tried too hard yet.



Bolted on some CaliRaised sliders I got from a member on here for a song like 4 or 5 months ago.




Bought this $200 Eberlestock daypack on clearance for $85. I drove the truck to the store, so I think it counts as something I did to my 2nd gen.


Not 2nd gen related, but had a work on the cars day today. Cleaned my wife's 4Runner and put new wheels/tires on my grocery getter.

BBS wheels and Michelin ATS3 all season radials, both with 1000 miles and I got them for half price of new:

I've done a lot to the truck since I lasted posted on TW, but yesterday I mounted my hi lift jack onto my aluminium topper. Had to drill some holes but I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to mount my shovel in the same spot. I was thinking something like this -

(would use the tube mount to secure the shovel to the jack), but I don't want to spend more than $20 on hardware for something like that. Anyone have any suggestions?

 

I took my shell off for an upcoming road trip. It looks so funny to me (it's been almost three years) and I forgot how low and usable the bedsides are. It's nice to have a pickup truck again for the next few weeks.

 

So sorry to see this. We just got back from camping and mine is sacked out beside me. IDK what I will do when this one is gone. They get into your heart so deep.

I don't necessarily need it yet, but with having the Off Road I don't have any switch blanks left. I don't like having the light bar switch so low and in front of the shifter, it's a little awkward to get to. And my ditch light switch is using the spot for the power converter switch (which I never use anyway, so not really missing it yet.) I'd like to have a convenient spot for all my aftermarket switches (current, and future) that's also in a highly accessible spot. Maybe even just mount an SPOD there or something, but I'm too poor for that right now since I just bought a URD clutch/flywheel and I'm about to drop all the money to get it installed

 

I have a base model. I completely removed the clutch cancel button & moved switched up. Right top will be my front locker. Bottom came w/o anything in mirror spot so made that the fog switch. Not pre-wired. Bottom row will finish out as (left to right) fogs, bumper spots, bumper light bar & ditch lights.

Might flip the rsca & traction control switches??

That looks really nice, I may have to do that one day. My bed is all scratched and paint stained from the previous owner, would be nice to kind of bring it back to factory and protect it a bit.

Yaaa, I can't do any more mods before I do some maintenance. I need to re do all the u joints and carrier bearing, and new LCA's probably wouldn't hurt anything
