I'd like to change my vote. Seems like I've seen this color in the BR6. This is the way.

Pinch weld anger relief day in my garage.

I did get some sealant on there just in case. I ended up hammering toward the outside of the truck and it worked great. Very easy job.

Lots of trimming and heat molding later and it's wide open. Should fit my 34"s easily.

Also painted my front hubs while I was down there. Can't have those new F5s looking ragged with the exposed hub.

Speaking of which, they are at the powder coater and should be done be end of this coming week.

Debated cutting my bed sides today. Decided that could wait til tomorrow. I'm going to get some measurements and order materials @Bandido , get ready ...

Nice job. 34s aren't terrible to make fit. Plus, you really get minimal benefits from a 315, but a good bit more cutting is involved.

    RIP stock bumper.

At least you'll come in useful by helping me learn to weld.

Don't get too excited. I just got the "get out of the garage" look...

So, now I'm watching formula1 qualifying. Haha

Maybe later tonight I'll take a crack at making some sparks

Do you have gas or are you just gonna run flux core? Flux core pops and splatters so bad

For now just flux. I totally understand its limitations, but I want to get a feel for it with some small stuff before spending a lot more $$

If you get even semi decent with flux you’ll do just fine with copper core. I don’t usually even use welding gloves or wear long sleeves anymore. With flux you have to unless you like burning yourself. Idk maybe you’re into some kinky shit lol

This is why I modded my welder. AC ---> DC with a bridge rectifier. Have yet to try it, but it supposedly cleans the weld significantly and gets better pen into the material.

Hindsight, after my effort and materials, just getting the HF 170 welder that I think is already DC, would've been the smarter move. I don't have anything over 120v to the garage, either.

Yeah, i'm on the fence on modding this one to DC or returning and grabbing the next model up...

Unfortunately, the 170 is 240V only. So it's either grab the Titanium Easy Flux (DC flux only $199) or go up to the Titanium MIG 140 to have 120V input. That's over $400. Not really sure what I want to do.

I'm more than happy to rent out my Lincoln for a small fee + gas.
Also I should buy another cylinder to run c25, right now I just exchange a tiny bottle with whatever I need for the material/method.

It's just a tedious task to put in the rectifier. And there's not a lot of room inside the case for it (I haven't addressed that myself)

I'll test my mod to it this week likely. Get the tool box brackets made up finally, maybe do cam tab beads. Just hot AF all week!
