Hello all, I put money down on the 4th of July for a 2010 Tacoma TRD with about 120K miles on it, picking ti up when I'm done with work. I'm looking forward to learning more about the truck, and excited to see what I can do to add to my enjoyment of this fine vehicle while maintaining its reliability. I'll be reading up and picking your brains. Cheers.

It looked good from a cursory check but I'll give it a closer look before I sign any papers. Thanks for the heads-up!

Am I getting the right information that the frame rust recall mainly affected earlier trucks, though? I'm reading it was about the 1995–2004 Tacomas.

Give it the hammer test all over. If the frame was given required CRC by dealer the extended frame rust through warranty applies for 12 years from date of first use on door sticker.
Run the VIN# for dealer service records and recalls/extended service campaigns. Good luck:thumbsup:

    Welcome to The Forum!

Take a very close look at the frame before you buy. You DON"T want that headache if you can avoid it.

Ad photos look good but as stated above the frame is the main concern.
I would recommend taking it to your local trusted mechanic for a thorough inspection.
    Good luck with your decision.
I’m sure someone else will chime in here.

It looked really good to me, better than most vehicles on the road in Minnesota with 100+K miles, so I did buy it. It looked like the front prop shaft had been replaced (sticker still on it). There's a few things to fix on it so I'll be working on it by this weekend for sure. Overall excited to have the truck!

ARB Bumper, SOS sliders, rear bumper, and skid plate. OME Lift. Some other stuff.

Negative. Frame rust recalls were also issued for the 2nd gens. The 3rd gens have had issues with frame rust as well. What part of the country was the truck titled in?
