    Hi,

New registered member here. I purchased a 2015 2.7L AT Access Cab SR5 last fall from a local Toyota Dealer. Great condition one owner 41,000 miles traded on a 2019 Extended Cab V-6. I purchased Toyota’s Platinum Extended Warranty for 3y-45,000 miles.

2 weeks ago AC light would flash and a screech noise would start when turned on.

Dealer said AC clutch is bad and ordered one under the warranty. Initially it was supposed to take 2 days to get it. It’s been over 15 days and they are still saying no part yet. They are not saying it’s back ordered.

Anyone have knowledge on OEM replacement Tacoma AC Clutches/Compressors being backordered due to recent manufacturing shutdowns?

Or is the dealer trying to frustrate me into going to another local Toyota Dealer? I like the dealership, but this is my first claim under the Toyota Warranty. Will they make less money replacing the clutch as opposed to non warranty?

    Opinions welcomed. Thanks for reading.

    15 days seems excessive.

Ok, so, the NY Distribution Center is out of stock. I verified this with another dealer. The other dealer stated he only sees 25 AC Clutches available in the US on his system he uses for ordering OEM parts for Warranty Repairs for the 2015 2.7L.

I guess my next step should be to ask my dealer why they can’t get me one of the 25 clutches in the system? I’m assuming they are at other dealerships? Would that be an accurate assumption?

I think your at the mercy of the dealer now. I don’t think they will modify how they get there parts based on your suggestions.

Yep - dealers source from what some people refer to as "Ports".

Gulf States Toyota -> Texas - Okla - & others

Southeast Toyota Distribution - SE states

At one time there was one in the upper Atlantic, but it closed.

As it was explained to me, these ports are not owned by Toyota - privately held.

Dealers order from specific places that handle their region.

    Better info likely found here:

Thanks for the Link. Absolutely fascinating amount of information. I think as a previous post stated I'm at the mercy of the supply chain. I'll update when I have resolution.

Thanks to all who took the time to reply. : )

Did the extended warranty you purchased take the basic warranty to 3/45 from 3/36 Or is it 3/45 above and beyond the basic 3/36? Just curious.

Above and beyond the 3/36 B to B and 5/60 Powertrain. Toyota Platinum Plan with $0 Deductible. so I'm covered till Nov 2022 or 84,000. I paid a fair price. I went for it as I was able to get a better deal on the truck than I anticipated as it's a 2.7L not the 4.0L. So, as I want to keep this for a long time I went for it.

I'm happy with the 2.7L. I don't tow. I just put a little more planning into a pass prior to pulling into the passing lane. : )

Took 4 weeks to get the clutch in. Compressor was fine. Replaced the clutch under warranty.

Hope it goes quicker for you.
