That cowel piece is flimsy as heck.
My ditch light bracket pushes the passenger side below my windshield and it sticks there. I still need to trim more.

Mine is not flush like yours. A common qc issue. If you think that’s bad, look at your front and rear bumper alignment and you will see that both have different gaps.

Checked my 2020 Offroad. it is flush. For what its worth.... One week after purchase, I noticed when I rolled down my back seat, drivers side window. The black rubber trim piece would fall without any pressure. It was being held up by the window. Window would come down, the trim piece would follow. dealer had to order and replace.

I must retract my initial praise of Toyota quality /fit and finish.
2020 TRD Pro 5/20/2020 brandy new...

First I get this squeeking issue... LF body to frame mount, not aligned properly destroys the bushing, wears into frame mount and creates the sqieek.
Alignment off...not a huge deal typical of new vehicles so I let that slide.
Now I see this post and the rubber seal is not up to par allowing water to go down into an area where not intended...eventual rust.
I took a soft body tool and pulled out the rubber hoping it being in the sun will remove the crease.

Went out and hugged our 1999 Ford Ranger with 176K on the meter....it has been flawless.....
    Sighs....

Mine does not sit flush either... I thought it was due to me having the windshield replaced and them improperly installing it. The installer came out to examine it. He showed me, you can move it towards and away from the windshield by hand. It is not meant to create a seal, it's only there to catch large debris and be a visual barrier. Water getting past it will do absolutely nothing.

Open your engine bay and push the cowl towards your windshield. It should close up the gap. Although, it may just slip back down.

    Not enough
2016. Dry rotted and coming apart in the AZ sun. And that part is not cheap.

    Its called a cowl cover.

Water running down there is not an issue. It goes the same place the water that runs in the slits in that cover goes.

And out the drains in front of your doors.

This will show you pretty much what its like underneath, and point out something else that needs your attention much more. Mouse proofing your fresh air intake.

Yes, I'd want mine to sit flat too.

Mine sits perfectly flush and tight against the windshield. I must’ve gotten really lucky with this truck because I don’t have a single issue with it. It’s been perfect, like I expected from a Tacoma, so far. The only issue I have is this forum makes me paranoid.

Someone....with an engineering degree.... thought it best to fit a rubber gasket on the wiper cowl .....I just thought I would honor that person and position it in its proper place....

Well finally took to the dealer to have the cowl cover replaced .Literally took them 2 1/2 hours to swap this part out . I asked my service adviser why is taking so long told me there is a 15 clips that need to be removed to get the piece out … 2 1/2 hours … he's so full of crap watched a 6 min video of a guy taking one of these out . time to find a new service center .
