Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

You rolled forward while the trans is in reverse? Maybe you were rolling longer than you thought, this can build heat quickly.

This isn't a tune problem, this is a result of an undesirable situation on the trans.

Check your fluid levels too.

 

trans fluid pump does not flow in reverse, like it does in forward gears. never try to reverse up large hills, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE TOWING (NOW PUSHING) A TRAILER. common on all vehicles. it is very bad to "let a vehicle move in reverse while in a forward gear, or forward in a reverse gear". auto transmissions DO NOT LIKE THIS, FOR LONG. Thanks!! I was waiting for the tune pack and it was in SPAM. Also, looks like chrome is automatically blocking your files.

 

This just happened to me, ive done it a thousand times before as well. Its not the tune. Its letting it roll too far forward. As annoying as it is come to a full stop. My truck didn't shut off, but it was about to until I hit the brakes harder.

 

At least it didn't catch fire like that other guys Tacoma.

I think before you write them to the handheld.
Rename them
I did that after the fact but I also organized it so that I can remember them. I had that issue when I loaded all mine and had to go back and redo it cuz I didn't know which was which haha

So, I have about seven hundred miles on the stock 91 octane non-thx tune and I must say it's been fantastic. Unlike the THX tune I don't get first gear bog and the peppiness along with drivability has been wonderful. I even added 1.5mpg too. I don't care about gear lock so this will probably be my last tune. I do look forward to custom tunes though through VF.

 

Stock size wheels/tires?

 

Sorry, I have 32.1" aftermarket tires. 275/65/18 to be exact. The tune gives me good power off the line and on the highway with no downshift or double downshifts on inclines like people have reported.

 

I have not experienced what you described. However, I have been in ECT and it will get stuck in 4th, even when flat or slightly downhill. Just did a nice trip through the mountains and it happened 2x.

 

What ECU ID are you? Are 04B04 tune packs out?

 

Sometimes there just aren’t more pros than cons with those things.

you are using the stock tire size, or the 33" tune? running 32.1" 265/70/17 myself. Ski

 

Stock tune with 32.1" tires. I am not using the 33 tune.
