A lot of electric motor produce a lot of torque .

Have you seen or read about the original Shelby Cobra with an electric motor?

It has about the same horsepower but around 1000 ft lbs torque.

    Good morning Stockers.

Had a fun development that some here will appreciate. I've got 3.5 acres I mow with a Deere Lawn tractor with a 42" deck. Sheer Masochism. But damn, zero turns are expensive. I was just lamenting (whining) to my GF the other day that if I had a zero turn it would add hours of free time to my life.

Well yesterday she sends me a note a that there is a zero turn on the side of the road, 5 minutes from my shop, with a sign that says "free" in magic marker, like a real estate sign. Now I'm figuring it'd be worth taking a swing at it, even if it needs a couple hunnit in repair $$, I'd come out ahead, so I fly out the door.

Sure enough, and old Dixon. Fiberglass deck, seat is shot, looks very, very tired. As I pull in, a man in his 90's comes out, very good shape for his age. I holler jokingly "willing to negotiate?" he smiles and makes his way over. I asked 'when's the last time it ran', he scratches his chin and says 'when i drove it there about a half hour ago'

    !!!!!

He hops on, throws a toggle switch that substitutes for a key, choke off, throttle at 75%, pushes the rubber ingnition plunger and vrooooomm, the 20 horse Kohler turns right over. He looks at me and does this....:notsure:

Tells me that he's the only owner it's had, he's done all the maintenance on it, and one of the two hydro drives is starting to seem a bit sluggish on the steeper inclines on his property. Figures his fingers won't let him mess with that degree of service, so he went and bought a new one, and figures somebody oughta be able to make use of the ol' pile o' bolts.

    !!!!!

Well at this point the choice is clear. I asked if he'd allow me to come back in the evening to collect it, as I really did have to be at work for the remainder of the day. He's still on the running mower, and asks me to hand him his hand drawn 'FREE' sign, which I do. I ask him his name, respond with my own, and wave see ya, as he spun around and accelerated to the garage. That's it. No phone number, nothin'.

The pick up was a bit dramatic as I'd underestimated the size and showed up with my Bike trailer with fixed sides, and it wasn't wide enough. Ended up taking my trusty steed, a stock Toyota Tacoma (see what I did there?) and flying to Home Depot for a 28 dollar 4 hr rental, and heading back.

After a brief tutorial, Ol' Dale drives the mower up onto the trailer, proceeds to hand me the owners manual, the original purchase reciept, 2 new drive belts, 2 sets of spare blades, Trans oil filter, motor oil filter and new Air filter, and wishes me much success.

got her home and took her for a spin, she's still got lot's o' life left, although I will be doing my homework on the hydro drive. Seems parts are still available.

Sometimes you just gotta let the universe know what you need.
