Finished my 2010 4Runner heated, turn signal, puddle light mod on my 2010 Sport. Everything went fine. Only thing I did different from original thread was color match the whole 4Runner mirror housing instead of just the mirror cover. Why because the sport mirrors were completely color matched. Wiring wasn't problem once I found the extra plug for taping the heater switch lights. All joints soldered and shrink wrapped. Very pleased the old man can still do this type of work. Worked as a civilian employee of the CHP for 38 year the last 25 in the facility that equipped Patrol Vehicles of all types not B&W sedans part of that was supervisor of the Electric shop so I learned how to wire a vehicle. From a Kenworth to a Camry. Best job I could have had working with my hands and mind. Does anybody know how to change bulb in Mirror switch?

Weather still didn’t want to agree with me so I said f**k it and decided to get some stuff done.

I finally put in my total chaos bed stiffeners and moved the antenna mount

    DABB3DE2-93AD-456D-9CF5-FCB8C151340F.jpg

I put the sound deadening inside the doors 80mil on the inside and 150 on the outside and there is a definite difference there

    07B855CB-FEBA-4171-9CDF-46F3839F95EA.jpg

I didn’t care to do it as neat as possible because no one will see it but I wanted to make sure I did enough that it was worth it and I love it. It’s also much cooler when I get in now so I’m glad I did both layers

I also installed my bankrupt armor battery tray (ignore the decal I did it a long time ago)

    1FC5A161-9E5C-4CA6-B979-2C26A5D1641E.jpg

Now I just need to grab my 31m deep cycle to put in it and figure out a new mounting spot for my oil catch can

Next up is new LED bar, solar panel and making a fridge mount for the back seat

I'm curious about the sound deadening everyone seems to be adding. My 2015 SR5 is far quieter than the MINI that I replaced, and is approaching the quiet level of my wife's BMW 335. Does it really make a lot of difference? What is the cost?

In addition to sound it is also much cooler in my truck when its been sitting in the sun so I definitely have noticed a difference in both aspects. Just for the 4 doors i used one box 18 sq ft of noico 80 mil and half a roll of 36 sq ft 150 mil. Again thats with not taking preference to the prettiest application and making sure it was functional. total cost for the doors was maybe $75 i still have a lot left and plan on doing the floor as well. Roof is a huge maybe haha but i dont want to mess with the headliner.

I have also been wondering about this and the speaker upgrades. I have and 09 and the speakers are factory as far as i know and the head unit is the factory one. I dont have any issue with the sound coming out of them. I actually have the bass turned down to -4 at all times, any higher and they rattle to much, but even at that they sound really good. I have had built systems in the past and I am very content with the sound of the stock speakers. I am also getting old so really loud music isn't my cup of tea. But the sound deadening I want to do with Cooper MAXX their is a lot of road noise. Anyone have issues not hearing a building issue with sound deadening?

I think the factory speakers are great. The only reason I upgraded mine was a friend was upgrading his and gave me the old ones for free so I jumped on it to add a little more quality. I kept the old ones incase one goes out but so far no issues. I think adding an amp and everything else isnt for me but upgrading the speakers as technology gets better is something to consider IMO

Did you reinstall the clear plastic sheet (vapor/water barrier)? If so, any lessons learned? Thanks.

I didnt. I used the 150 to cover as much of the holes as I could so we shall see Ive seen people reuse it but only when they just did inside the door and not where the vapor barrier is. I did both inside the door and the outside where the barrier used to be being sure to surround as much of the holes as I could.

I've never thought too much about that inside of the door's vapor barrier before but I'd assume that the point of it is to not allow any water that goes down the glass is stopped (in theory) by that barrier and goes down to the bottom of the door where i'm guessing we have a weep hole....? Is that about right in thinking?

Yes that is the theory. I will be checking it after it rains or i get the truck washed to see what I am dealing with and determine from there how to move forward.

looking for info on anybody with a 2nd gen and a tracrac system. I am waiting on some bolts to arrive but I think I'm missing some spacers.

Also, just setting the foot on the side of the bed it appears clamping it down, it will rest on the track that's mounted to the side of the tacoma bed?

Any suggestions? I'm curious how others have mounted their tracrac on a 2nd gen.

You'll notice a huge difference with sound deadening material. The more surfaces that it's applied to the larger the difference. The idea is not to cover every square inch that can be covered, it's to stop the metal from vibrating which amplifies unwanted noise. Covering every inch is wasteful but to each their own.

You'll also notice improved sound quality with aftermarket speakers, especially if you choose a smart choice in aftermarket speakers depending on your needs and other existing equipment. However if you're happy with the current sound quality then there's no reason to change them out. Probably the biggest difference is by changing the front tweeters in the doors. The second biggest difference is probably the addition of sound deadener.

On the way to work this morning I noticed that my trucks AC/heater blower motor speed was significantly reduced. Later I narrowed it down to a bad connection at the blower itself which is funny because for the last 2 days it's been acting weird I have been hitting the dash right below the heater control to make it work (lol). You can see the plug for the aftermarket blower motor resistor as well (all grey wires).
    20200706_160421.jpg
I fixed that boats trim and tilt. The guy that installed the new engine missed a ground wire at the bellhousing bolt.
    20200706_125337.jpg
And the boats trim and tilt "up" switch was no good so I just added a temporary switch under his dash so he could make his vacation with his boat.

@tbr3345 that switch has LED's inside it I believe. It'll be easy to dicifer, remove the switch and if it uses an actual bulb you'll see the bulbs socket from the outside of the switch, a round piece of plastic with a small flathead in it, if you don't see that then it's LED's.

There are a few threads on changing the switches colors of light emitted, find one of those threads and it'll tell you which LED's will work. I'm positive you're capable of the task.
