The dealer is not going to give a crap about your experience. Consider it a lesson learned... don’t waste your time, and move on

Is that piece visible from the underside? I don’t think I have one (pic). But it wasn’t until your post that I understood what the OP was talking about.

OP, consider seeing if the Mods will let you change this thread title to include a more accurate description, and maybe add pics. This thread will get lost in the noise and I agree that it is something that could get overlooked and then be mission critical by someone that isn’t used to having their spare handcuffed to the drop tray.

Totally disagree. I would let the dealer know what happened so they also can learn from it and maybe do a better job making sure all the parts needed to change out the spare tire are there. I once had a dealer rotate my tires on my car, it had a wheel lock but on each tire. Before I left I checked to make sure my lock key was still in the glove box, it wasn’t. You better believe I let them know and they retrieved it for me.

Read the thread. It’s a port install by some dealers, apparently. But yeah, it would be nice to have a picture of it anchored on and add the info to one of the stickies for the 3rd Gen while we are being productive, eh?
