No one is going to boot you off the forum for naming a lousy dealer if you are being honest about how they are treating you and your issue. In fact, you might find that other people have had similar issues with the same dealer and might advise you where else you could go for better service and the best way to follow up and how to use the manufacturer to get the dealer to act in accordance to the manufacturer warranty.

And document, document, document, get every piece of paper you DEMAND from the dealer every time it happens and make sure the lousy employee ID number or name is on it. You may be surprised at how helpful a lousy employee becomes when they have their name/ID documented on paperwork to use against them if need be. And that paperwork can be extremely useful when you have to go the lemon law route because it WILL be used against them if need be.

Also, call/E-mail corporate Toyota and explain the issue calmly, politely, and logically and explain the danger and safety risks to you and your riders if it stalls in an unsafe place like an intersection. And have the persons ID/mane to reference when you are speaking with them. Employee XXX id much better then just ''the dealer'' because it shows you are compiling a record if need be.

If you know of TSB's and such that relate to the issues you have, let the employees you are speaking with, or his manager if he is unwilling to discuss it, that you know there are issues and you have done research, it is much harder to blow off a customer when the customer is informed and ignorance is seldom rewarded by good service.

I really can't believe Toyota says it is normal. That makes me lose confidence in Toyota. Hopefully its just that dealership. Hope things work out for you.

I’m pretty sure it’s an isolated issue. When I broke down last night Toyota Care was towing me to another dealer that was closer. That dealer said “uh oh..sounds like another Tacoma fuel pump.” I waited nearly three hours for a tow truck that never came. At that point the dealer was closed and I was so far from home (over two and a half hours) that I needed a hotel stay. Truck finally restarted (and died a few more times) and drove it home to original dealer near my house. Don’t trust this truck anymore.

Take truck to other dealer. The one that mentioned the fuel pump. Your current dealer sounds like an ass.

OP, when was the last time you put fuel in it? Bad fuel can mimic a bad fuel pump. Although the low pressure code would not apply. Just a thought. What a shitty dealer thou...

The problems have occurred multiple times with different tanks of fuel, so I don’t think that’s the issue. I won’t have any updates until Monday due to the holiday weekend. I’ll just enjoy my base model Camry. It’s kinda like a Tacoma TRD Off-Road.

Latest update. Truck threw another low fuel pressure code. Shop wants to replace the high pressure fuel pump, although threads elsewhere here said that didn’t always fix the problem. Will keep you up to date.

I don't blame you for not trusting the truck, clearly it needs help that the dealer isn't giving it.

Hopefully you get this sorted out. I can imagine how frustrating it has to be for you.

So accept a new high pressure fuel pump for free under warranty and see what it does.

Thanks, all. I’m told the pump may not be in until Friday, so that’s one week in the shop. I really like this forum. The post on undercoating was helpful since I live in Northwest Indiana, right below Lake Michigan and we get some pretty impressive snowfalls and lots of road salt. Many of my old Honda’s were conquered by salt, not mechanical issues.

Had an old timer tell me about a product called “Cosmoline”. He lives in Pennsylvania and owns an ancient Chevrolet that’s at least thirty years old. I looked it up on Wikipedia and it was developed back inWWII to prevent corrosion.Fluid Film, LPS-3, and others all seem similar. He said the truck still looks like new.

Don’t blame you. Simpler is better. When did they start putting two fuel pumps in cars?! I traded in a 2004 Honda Odyssey for this truck and have obviously fallen behind times. I searched and the fuel pump really is over $1,200 !??! Crazy.
