CarPlay / Android Auto is fairly standard anyway. You could get an F-150 STX and it'd have everything you want plus that. There's a ton of those out there. It's technically an XL, but it's got a lot of things that you don't find until you get to the higher level XLTs.

The truck I'm getting will have adaptive cruise, but I would have skipped it if I ordered the truck. I just set a speed and pass the slow people and let the faster people pass me. I have no idea why I would want to match someone else's speed. Friend's Subaru has it and we took it on a trip a year or so ago--I didn't really like it.

had it on a rental and loved it because I’d set it to 80 and sit in the center lane. If I got behind someone going 75 or higher I’d just sit there. And not have to touch anything.

I drive a truck like a truck. 65....so ain’t nobody going 65 to lock onto. I like it but not going to be a requirement.

the crew cab long bed Tacoma is about the same as an f150 so might as well at that point. Way more leverage.

I haven’t really looked into it deep yet. Want to get through my first road trip and see how we do. If it’s abysmal then I won’t care about trying to get a vehicle that is good for it in the future.

So... speaking of financially irresponsible decisions, I may or may not be working on deal on an oil burner

Rob, no comments on the color, I love my white trucks! I'd swap the black wheels over as part of the deal.

Got my new borla exhaust Sunday. Been sick since Friday night so haven’t got it on yet.

been quarantining myself the whole time and if fever doesn’t break by morning I’m gonna go get tested for covid or possible other infection. No other symptoms and my brother had something similar a few weeks ago and didn’t have covid so :fingerscrossed:

7.5 month pregnant wife has me stuck in bedroom all day and is constantly spraying me with Lysol and stuff. She is NOT interested in getting a fever right now

I’m not a fan of chrome but love me a white vehicle. My Mazda was white before my current white Tacoma. And my next vehicle will probably be white. Could be convinced on a light gray/silver.

    Grats! Have fun with it.

Nope, but thank you for pointing out my many talents :D

You know me though, I'll have enough subtle detail into it so it won't pass for just any old work truck.

See it was a compliment! Rough crowd hahaha..

Just managed to get the sticker on the Cupcake mobile. Dumb luck that I only had one other car ahead when I arrived.

Well... I go sign the papers tomorrow. Made a deal over the phone, spent the night stripping down my truck to swap everything over. I’m joining the forced induction crowd!

A BS thread! Perfect place to post my dumb questions, what do you guys think of this deal?
    https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=554021532&zip=02822&referrer=/cars-for-sale/searchresults.xhtml?zip=02822&bodyStyleSubtypeCodes=FULLSIZE_CREW%2BCOMPACT_CREW&sortBy=relevance&incremental=all&firstRecord=0&marketExtension=include&modelCodeList=TACOMA&makeCodeList=TOYOTA&searchRadius=100&isNewSearch=true&transmissionCodes=MAN&numRecords=25&firstRecord=0&modelCodeList=TACOMA&makeCodeList=TOYOTA&searchRadius=100&makeCode1=TOYOTA&modelCode1=TACOMA&clickType=listing

Says he’ll buy mine for what I owe on it (~$3k)

Other info: the frame has not been replaced on the truck I’m looking at, and I’m going to keep my cap and sell it. Also I don’t know much about the 4.0 or the 6 speed, anything I must know to look out for?

edit: dang need some tiny url or something for that link! Double edit: nvm looks shorter now!

I am loving this truck. This Lariat is overall just so much nicer than my XLT. The only thing that I genuinely hate is the push button start. I get that for people who carry a purse, but it's a large key that I don't want to keep in my pocket so I throw it in the console. At that point I might as well just have a normal key.

I do like the B&O stereo, cooled seats, all the extra lighting, and bigger cluster.

16 9 for a 10 year old vehicle with 120 on it just seems steep to me. Good vehicle I’m sure but yeesh. But hey, that’s why I went new.

check the frame warranty qualification. It hasn’t been replaced but it also might not qualify because the previous owner didn’t do X or Y (or did do X or Y whatever).

I keep mine in that stupid half pocket thing in jeans. I’ve learned to always have my keys on me during an office evac for fire alarm and always park near your rally point.

side note semi related....I interned at NH ball bearing the summer following their plant explosion back in 2014. I wasn’t there for it, but we did have an unrelated evac that summer. I have never seen a place clear out as fast as that building did when the fire alarm went off. I mean Wil E Coyote style. Where I work now people go get their coffee before they leave.

theft deterrent? I use the battery save mode for the Tacoma. Disables the signal it’s great.

It is steep but that seems to be the market right now and MT there’s not too many options, said the previous owner painted the frame so I’ll have to find out if that disqualifies it

Good Lord, you and your wife have had more cars in the past 7 years that I've known you than me and Cupcake have had in the 18 years we've been together..haha

I had a F150 last year as a rental and remember the key kind of sucked for that reason. I think I'm getting more used to it now that Cupcake's 2014 Rav4 has a larger key.

    Always wanted cooled seats.

notice any big changes from your old one as far as “they had a few years to tighten up the design and improved x y or z”?

I liked my xlt a lot, I can only imagine cruising around in the higher trims!

The big thing I notice that would have been equal is Sync 3.4 is better. My 18 wouldn't go past 3.3. The color scheme is nicer, presets work more logically, whole thing just feels more polished.

They also hid the wire for the rearview mirror. I always thought that was an odd oversight on my last truck. The windshield is also labeled "SoundScreen" and I am not sure if that is a Lariat and up thing or not. I am sure I will find more as I drive it more.

There are a couple regressions. I don't think the rear headrests fold down any longer. If they do I haven't figured out how. I also noticed the gearshift has no stitching on it while my XLTs did. Just seems odd when they added stitching to the doors and dash.

Though I hate to admit it, I am kind of getting a kick out of the fake engine noise. It's pretty entertaining when you put your foot down. They did a good job with it, if you didn't know that's what it was you would think it was real.
