I'm not sure how Toyota's QA is in Mexico and Texas, where they build the Tacoma. It's wild for a newer model year vehicle to have issues. I know the Tahara plant in Japan where they build the 4Runner, Land Cruiser, Land Cruiser Prado, Lexus GX460, and LX570, they have a process of test driving vehicles: every Lexus vehicle made gets driven around a test track to catch any issues. 1 in 5 Toyota's made there get driven around the track for the same reason.

It would be good to know how many Tacoma's made get test driven if any before being moved to dealerships.

More explained in this Tahara plant tour video:

That’s funny. I remember that film. Although not in this one, who can forget his line “wiring it 220 / 221 - whatever it takes.”

OP, you mentioned NW Indiana, I'm pretty familiar with both dealerships out there. Is it Merrillville or Lakeshore?

Feel free to PM your response to me if you wish to keep it quiet for now.

Clear bra, weather tech floor mats, seat covers, dog door protection.
This happened to my 19 Taco. Dealer had it a few days and installed a new bad fuel pump and said in September I would come back for the recall new pump.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
I had a Nissan/Datsun Z car that was coated in Cosmoline. Nasty shit, keeps the metal from rotting but it picks up every bit of dirt and dust making every surface looks like it's been covered in that mold that grows on unused cars. Only good way to remove Cosmoline is kerosene

For what it’s worth I’ve had zero issues with my 2020. I have free oil changes but I’ve opted to do my own. And I use an Autel scan tool to make sure there’s no saved codes that are important. The only code I’ve ever seen is that the radio can’t communicate with the xml receiver. I’m a bit paranoid about having dealers work on my vehicles.

And I use it quite a bit offroad. I do have some nice pin stripes coming in.. saving my lunch money for a wrap later this year.

I’ve always just pressure washed the salt off regularly and applied fluid film or amsoil has a product called heavy metal protector. It’s not magic though, you have to regularly stay on top of it. My F150 is a rust bucket because I got lazy.

I am planning on doing my own maintenance as well, not sure if I can trust my local dealership. I use a Autel MS906TS.

Just curious...was it the low or high pressure fuel pump? It looks like the recall is on the low pressure pump. I believe the low pressure pump is in the tank and the high pressure is on the block.

look if these people are not doing their jobs and not honoring their contract put their names out there. Hell how is their behavior going change. Think about the next guy or woman who comes to them for service. I always say hit them in their wallet by bad mouthing their service.

Smash it through their front door, telling them the brakes failed, they'll tell you it's normal.

I have a 2017 Tacoma and I notice that every time I gas up the truck struggles to start up. I have to wait 5 to 10 minutes before she starts back up. This only happens when I gas up. Taking it to the stealership tomorrow
