Scheduled an appointment last week to have the large weatherstripping (75552-04081) piece on the drivers side roof replaced today (dealership somehow broke it when I was there for servicing last week). I couldn't go to the dealership today because I was busy w/ school, so I let my step dad take the truck down there instead. When he got back, I went out to my truck to see the new stripping and I noticed they didn't even replace the part. I wonder what they were doing with the truck for an hour while it was at the dealership, surely didn't do anything.

Maybe hard to tell but the large stripping that covers most of the roof has dirt, water spots, and other stuff on it, and the smaller one near the bed (not broken so it wasn't replaced) also has the same dirt and water spots, that indicates it wasn't touched and I also haven't washed the truck in 2 weeks o_O. I'm not going to deal with it at the dealership because this was fixed under warranty so its not a huge issue.

Why not deal with it at the same dealership? Gotta hold them accountable.

You should at least call the same dealership to get an explanation why it wasn’t fixed. Then decide if you want them to continue to do work on your truck or go some where else.

I’m confused, the weatherstripping is there. How do you break weatherstripping? It may have come loose, but they could just put it back in to place and it’s done.

“I'm not going to deal with it at the dealership because this was fixed under warranty so its not a huge issue”.
What does this even mean? Do you feel bad because it was fixed under warranty and don’t want to bother them?
It’s obviously a huge issue for you or you wouldn’t have had them address it to begin with and you wouldn’t have posted your issue here?
Stop being so passive aggressive, call them up and let them know how you feel.

@brandon78lusch so it was broken or just not properly secured? No need to replace the part if it wasn't broken. Those strips are just in a groove and taped down so if they replaced the tape and properly reinstalled I'm not sure why it would have needed a new part.

Besides, you'd have one with water spots and one without....oh how my OCD eyes would burn

    Dealerships are the worst

I had a mustang GT with ford extended warranty. It had a nasty lower engine noise so I took it to a dealer near philly. They took the engine out of the car and disassembled it to find a spun rod bearing. Then they decided not to cover it under warranty because I didn’t use Ford oil (which is illegal). They charged me $900 for the disassembly and I had to bring a car trailer and pickup to get all the engine parts. Half the bolts and misc parts were missing. We looked into hiring a lawyer but that was several thousand dollars vs just buying a new engine from ford. Basically, I’ll never buy a Ford for the rest of my life.

Had the same issues with my tundra just out of warranty. Less than 5 minutes and some black rtv sealant i glued it back. Never had another problem. Its probably all the dealer did.

I went out and looked at the passenger side stripping as well and it looks like they replaced that one instead of the drivers side. smh

Title of Post: Dealership didn't fix a part

Written in the Post: I'm not going to deal with it at the dealership because this was fixed

This is creating dissonance in the minds of many readers.

The service report says it was fixed and its going to be hard to argue that with the dealership. Its not worth driving an hour down and back for nothing.

I generally find it not worth it to go to the dealer for anything whatsoever except the original purchase.
