Icon is a brand I once owned and it was really nice on rocky service roads where they were excellent at dampening the rumble.

Just to clarify, I don't mind spending $$$ for something that will make my kids comfortable and also be able to enjoy great camp-spots. But if there is nothing that can be bought to reduce the possibility of whiplash, then I won't be taking her to these locations in the future.

 

Maybe invest in a neck collar or pillow. You need to keep the head stable on a baby. Whiplash at that age is not going to end well.

I have a ridiculous suspension setup by most standards and nothing beats airing down. Buy a power tank if you don’t want OBA and air down.

I just got back from a camping trip with my 9-month old on a hard rock crawling trail, guess what he did 90% of the time? Slept, yes he slept through that craziness.

 

Don't take a baby offroad if you have not learned to drive offroad. Mechanics do not compensate for lack of driving ability.

 

Not offroading, just potholes / rocks / roots on forest service roads.

Maybe wait until they are one? I recall doing research on a bike trailer and most do not recommend kids under one due to the vibrations, I would imagine the same logic follows in this situation.

Renault makes a child seat with "sleep safe". Probably model specific, maybe there is something more universal out there.

 

when I was 7 weeks old I went car camping at Katherine's Landing Lake Havasu. we had a 1960 Cheby C10 chort bed. 4 sp. Back in 1960 Katherine's landing was out in the tules.
I didn't get no whiplash. Probably got sunburned through.

 

Then every baby is getting car sick because babies love falling asleep in cars.

It sounds its probably a good idea to stick it to onroad until shes bigger. Though, I wish they made some active suspension baby seat that self levels. That would be freaken awesome.
