does anyone know which of these are power or ground? I’m doing the same mod right now and for some reason I can’t get the light to ever turn on. I know the build it good because I swapped it out with my AC controls

I tested the bulb with a 9v battery before I mailed it to you so it should be good, but double check to be sure.

I wired the power wire to the black/white wire in the drivers A-pillar. Then ground to the chasis.

oh yeah, not on you at all. The bulb works because I swapped it to a bulb in the ac and it works. My other ones worked too. My truck was pre wired for this.
So I just cut the plug off and wired it both ways but I can’t get it to light up. Any ideas?
I’ll have to dig out my test light I guess lol

awesome! So I see that you tapped into the black wire (positive) black/white (negative)

but on the other side of that plug I see the green and red/blue wires. That’s the plug that my truck has. I cut it off since I don’t have the female plug. But I can’t seem to get the bulb to turn on

maybe I should track down the black and black/white wires

If you cant find the plug under the dash the next best thing you can do is run some wires up to the A pillar. Just so you know your tapping the correct wires. The correct plug should have some foam around the female/male connections

some people have found those same wires under the dash behind the fuse box as well right? It’s a black (positive) and black/white (negative)?

I found the plug behind my dash. I didn’t have the female end of the plug, so I simply cut it off and tried it both ways (swapped the positive and negatives) but still can’t get the light to come on

these two wires right here red/blue and green/black. This plug was taped up around some other wires and not used in my truck. Isn’t that the correct plug and wires?

I'm pretty sure I've posted this before, but here it is again. Also here is a screenshot since most people want to see something rather than download something. Still, download the PDF, it is better quality.
    Screen Shot 2020-02-24 at 7.07.50 AM.jpg

The light ring plug only has 2 pins. It will have a Light Blue - Yellow wire and a Red - Green wire. Keep in mind Light Blue looks more like dark blue.
This goes to connector A at the back of the integration module (interior fuse panel) pins 1 and 12 if you want to trace it.

@4x4Taco09 that is not the correct connector.

I cannot remember which is positive vs negative on this, but if you use a incandescent bulb it doesn't matter. If it doesn't work with a LED, then you need to switch the wires.

Removed the green rubber off my 4Runner bulb. Looking for an amber LED or an amber rubber thing to get the color closer to stock. But it's close enough for now. Tapped into the black/white and black a pillar wires.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I wired up and it works. However the light is always lit up. Was hoping it would turn on with running light or courtesy lights. I used the black and black with white in the a pillar.

    **Update**

Not thinking i had the door open the whole time. Once I used my brain and shut the door, 16 seconds the light went off. Now I have 2 more truck to complete this on. Thank you everyone for all the photos and write ups. Very easy. About 15mins and 45mins wondering why the light wouldn't go off.

Well mod was a secuss. I tapped into the wire in the a pillar after making my own harness to look OEM. Very pleased with the outcome. Thanks to the write ups and photos. Just remember the light will on while the door is open. Turns of once door has been closed and 16 seconds passes.

**this was all done on a 02**

    Map Lights, Grey Wire Mod,
You guys are gonna hate this.

Just went to wire mine tonight. While looking around for a better way I found out the truck has the factory connector under the steering column!! How the hell did no one figure this out yet?! (edit: never mind just went back through the thread and seen some people discovered it.)

This mod is 100% plug and play.

Legit plugged mine in and was done.

OP, you should put this at the top post to save people the hassle.

Works just like it should, with the done light.

Only plug-n-play possibility is on 95.5-00 trucks since they had this option stock.
