Sup guys. Daddy has been good and has $500 or so on basic upgrades. If y'all could upgrade anything on a "stock" AR15 (AM15) what would you do? Thanks in advance.

Edit:Only mod I have done is a vortex red dot that has held up well. Open to any suggestions whether aesthetics or simple functional improvements

I highly recommend Larue Tactical's 2 stage MBT for a start.

Off the top of my head:
    Trigger- Larue MBT for ~$80
Sling- any quality sling will do, I prefer the Magpul MS4, I believe they run around $50
Stock- Magpul CTR, not sure on cost
Forend-Magpul carbine drop, not sure on cost but will give you Mlok compatibility
And last but definitely not least, a light, something like the Streamlight TLR1-HL with the pressure pad, it should run around $120 for the streamlight, you can use other lights for higher or lower price point.

I’d be less inclined to buy a 2nd personally

I’d lean towards a better grip, better handguard, ammo and range time

Run the thing and get better with it

Push the limits of it and see what you like and don’t like

    Upgrade accordingly

First was PSA Upper + PSA lower...runs like a champ

Wanted to "build" a few (using pre-assembled upper from PSA or BCM; M-LOK compatible handguards)

    My prefs....

    Lower: Anderson or PSA
Trigger: ALG ACT (same mfg as Geissele, but way cheaper; will try Larue MBT soon I hope)
Stock: Magpul ACS-L or BCM Gunfighter kit (includes buffer tube, etc); next one prob VLTOR A5 but I have an ACS-L lying around...
Grip: BCM Mod-3 or ERGO original
    LPK: CMMG
    Sling: Sig-Sauer 2-Point QD

I'd say this is on the money. After using the Magpul MOE grip the mil-spec ones feel like garbage to me, a different handguard that is a little more ergonomic would be nice, once again Magpul makes some nice stuff. A new stock would also be nice, I'm partial to the Mission First Minimalist stock or the Vltor IMOD but again Magpul has some good options too.

Beyond that ammo and range time would be the best bang for your buck (pun fully intended)

Sling and trigger. Carbine furniture works for what it needs to do, and that dot will be just fine in the role, but a trigger (MBT 2S for a budget trigger, or any of the TTAG drop in triggers if you want to spend more) and sling (Blue Force Gear or Viking Tactics are both solid) are both good for "buying points" in that they make getting first round hits much more feasible. Flashlight if you value seeing targets 24/7.

After those, ammo and training. Looking cool is the goal but you won't look cool if you can't run the gun.

Thanks guys for the tips. I'll look into trigger for sure. My groupings at 75 yards or so are pretty tight right now. Hopefully can find a few things to help me range out a bit more

This is what I have planned.

EVERYONE is out of shit. Sitting as you see that new one I am in:
    Can - 1200
    Up - 1000
    Low - 700

    when it’s done?
    New stock - 90
    New trigger - 300
Optic - 900-1000 If I go with another magnifier it doubles
Flip up sights for redundancy - 300
    New pistol grip - 50
    New charging handle - 80
    Front 45 degree - 45-60
If I decide to go this route and put an IR Illuminator - 800

pretty much all I’m doing to it though.

    Wrote that for a buddy.
