just curious why you removed the windshield tint. Mine is tinted 35% plus a 5% strip at the top. I like it so much that I’ll never own another vehicle without tinting the windshield

    Well to keep this perspective:

I bought the truck used from an independent dealer, so it was on there BEFORE I bought her. And I had kept it on there for almost a 1 1/2 years before removing it. But suffice it to say, troopers frown on windshield tint. A couple have even mentioned to me in passing I needed to get it removed. It was "drug dealer" dark.

This pic was taken in mid May (so it was getting hot and all in Mississippi where I live)

    20200514_120401.jpg

If you can't tell, you can't see sh*t inside. It was that DARK.

Also my eyes, while I'm not blind, have a hard time at night. So for my safety (and others on the road), I had it removed.

Now saying that, the local tint shop is going to put an anti-glare film on the front windshield to help keep the heat out. I do miss that about the dark tint. I also plan to get a dark strip across the front.

Really sharp man - always amazed at the talent on these forums. Do you ever plan on producing something like this, or just a DIY hobby?

Noticed two of the large torx bolts on my tailgate that were taller than all the others. Replaced two striped grommets from the manufacturer. Should have ordered more, because I found a 3rd in the process. :frusty:87907052-F3BB-4074-8117-C1085C74C75D.jpg

I don't know why because I seem to notice every other feature on a Tacoma but headlights and tail lights. :notsure: On the bright side (pun intended) it's saving me money! :D

How'd you like the price of those end caps? Now there's one heck of a profit margin for you! And I'm not making fun of you. I was dumb enough to pay stupid money for 10 cents worth of plastic! o_O

Four end caps equal the price of the accessory rail!

    Outstanding job!!
Any plans on offering them for sale?

One of the nicer designs that I've seen! Especially like the spacing from the roof, something I dislike from most other similar style racks.

Yeah you’re right- those rail ends are a rip-off and they’re really not very secure at all.

When I installed my Mountain Hatch tailgate cover and tailgate lock & open actuators, I ended up bending short pieces of wire tie at a 90 degree angle and dropping it in the hole for a little extra bite rather than picking up new grommets. Seems to work pretty well as long as you aren't taking the bolts in an out regularly. Like most folks, I had plenty of wire tie ends lying around

No of course not. BTW, my told me that I have an unlimited budget for accessories for the new truck. She really likes the new truck. Which makes me a bit nervous.
