Congrats on the delivery! Each happy delivery means the rest of us are one steop closer to ours!

Too bad you can't go big while you are out in that area because of Covid....https://www.thomaskeller.com/tfl
Made the mistake of not looking around the area when I drove out to look at the shop before placing my order. If you or your significant other is a wine lover might want to check out Napa valley while you are around there (If Covid allows?). I know mine deserves some fine wine after the amounts of times I have said "Drifter" over the last year....

Hey, so I just sold my spot...like 10 minutes ago for real. I contacted Phil first to let him know, and I had the same question that another forum member asked, which was about refunds. I don't want to state Vagabond's policies here...but the only way to get your whole deposit back is to sell your build spot for that amount. It was very easy to do...took me a day and a half from when I posted it for sale on Expedition Portal to receiving the payment from the new buyer. I cc'ed Phil on our emails when the transaction was completed, and provided the new buyer's email and phone number to Phil. I also shot Phil a couple DM's through IG as further verification that the transaction was completed.

Good luck with your sale! I sent three buyers to your post selling your spot in the 160's...it will sell quick. One buyer contacted me this morning after I already had my transaction set, and he was ready with full funds ready to buy my spot. No doubt you will find a buyer today if you're ready to sell.

Has anyone had a Drifter shipped, more specifically, shipped to Canada? I’m order 167 and imagine I still have a while to wait but I’m unsure if the border will be open by the time mine is ready to be picked up. I was looking forward to making the trip down to California from B.C. but could be a while until that’s possible.

Ya man don't do it !! We looked at shipping to either Van or Edm then just to see the cost of getting it us in Wpg and it was ungodly expensive for all 3 Wpg being the most expensive but only by 400. You also then need to account for not only the shipping cost but the customs fees and import fees brokerage fees and BC will apply PST to it as well (go back through AB to avoid that) then you need to get it to the island that's gonna add way way more to the shipping cost.

Contact Vegabond and see if they will hold your camper or if you can be on the 1st run completed once the boarder re opens it will be so much cheaper to drive down and get it and it's way way way more fun !!

To give you an idea of the cost we drove from Wpg down and back with stops to see family and friends in Van and Edm and with fuel and food and 2 nights hotel we still saved over $1800Cdn and that was pre pandemic before the trucks were super busy and the rates went up........

YMMV though I don't envy your position at all but honestly for the cost in shipping you could do alot of work to the truck you've waited this long I know it sucks but wait a bit longer and really enjoy the trip down see some sights it will be worth it.

Good luck and it will be nice to not be the only one up here anymore!!

I have a 1st Gen Tacoma and I’m expecting my build this month or next (so probably November lol). What’s the best prep for my bed and bed rails? I currently have that spray on bed liner up and over the top of the rails. I heard that I should have smooth rail tops, paint only. Is this true?

Related, if I’m going to get rid of that crappy spray on bed liner, what’s best practice for lining the bed? Carpet? New liner? Do I come up to and under the caps? Bed sides only or entire bed?

    Thanks.

I like the BedRug I have in my 1st gen DCSB.

As for the rails, mine are uncoated, stock paint and I have no issues with sealing.

If your tailgate paint is in good condition, I recommend putting a piece of 3M clear tape "helicopter" tape across the outside top so the rear window/door seal doesn't wear through the paint.

Plus One for Bed Rug. I have buildout in top of the Bed Rug and it provides insulation and padding for the knees. Work well for me unless you haul straw in the pickup :(. You will want to throw down a tarp if you haul anything.

If they recommend a smooth rails you can remove the line-x with a heat gun and a chisel. There’s a few YouTube videos about removing it. Otherwise. The seal under the camper may seal, depending on how coarse it it.
