It is very rare, esp for MTs, but it does happen. That's how we found out about 04B14. A dealer rando-flashed it.

Every time I got my truck serviced under ToyotaCare, I flipped the tech $20 before even pulling it in. The last time I was there, they flashed mine to the newest version without me even having to ask. I know from my days working as a tech, if you want good service, tip BEFORE the job is done! Lol

Where do you go that you even get to see a tech let alone actually talk to one on a regular basis? Any time I have gone to the dealer I have to deal with the clueless "service advisors".

    ^same here.

I talked to a tech one time and that was after arguing with the service guy extensively and he finally gave in

That didn’t even come to mind to do that. I’ll definitely do that next service.

I usually don’t see them, I put the money in an envelope, write “technician” on the outside of it and leave it on the dash with a note inside that says “Buy yourself some lunch and take good care of her!”. I know the service advisor there and she told me they love working on my truck haha!

    So. Many. Stickers.
Damn y'all have some s***** dealers. The four Toyota dealerships near me that I've worked with over the years on various vehicles have never had issues getting updates done.

That being said, one of the dealerships did sell me a stolen Jeep so there was that.... I go out of my way to tell people to avoid them. But the other three.... Lol

@Rafael@OVTune @OVTune is there any release date for 2.0 Performance Tune for 04B81 AT. I’m currently running the 33” Premium THX Stock Gears on my truck and feel that it still can do better between 1,100 to 2,500 rpms. I don’t know if it’s because of the Atkinson Cycle but sometimes the truck hesitates while driving conservatively from 1,100 to 1,600 rpms it feels like a misfire. The truck jerks almost like running over big speed bumps. I have already driven for about 990miles on the tune. Currently using Shell 93 octane. Thanks for your support!

Is it necessary? The end result will still be the same using an OV tune regardless of ecu version, correct?

Oh no shit, so in order to get the full effect the latest TSB is needed.

I guess I’ll have to look into performing the TSB before flashing his truck for him if he doesn’t have the latest version. Do you know what the most recent ecu version is for a 2017 limited with a 3.5?

Is this type of info in a sticky thread? If not, it should be.

The best resource is the MT Update thread. It has the instructions needed for flashing and the MT and AT software.

The one big problem there is that the OP moved on to a Tundra, so updating the 1st Post is problematic.

Oh I didn’t mean the process for the TSB flashing, I just meant the ecu information (ecu codes, descriptions, etc).
