That guy will fight you in every way for you not to Cancel it. You thought he was pushy before? Be prepared, he will do anything to stop you. DO NOT let him offer you a better price or ANYTHING other than a refund. You can always buy a warranty later and the Maintenance one is a straight up rip off , especially if their Service Department turns out to be bad.

Yeah that’s what I’m afraid of. I went ahead behind their backs and called Toyota financial, and they said to go on ahead and write a letter about my cancellation, and fax it to them. Then I have to pick up the refund from the dealer apparently? Btw who still faxes? Lol

I got the same warranty for $1300 at Wolverine for my 2019. Cancel it and pick it up there instead. Maintenance plan... Oh hell no!

Cancel bro! When I bought my 2013 Tacoma I purchased extended warranty 100,000 mile and never used . When I got 2020 I declined and we did same for my wife’s 2020 Rav. FYI you can always buy Toyota extended warranty from other Toyota dealers online before your manufacturer warranty expires 3year / 30K. I found a dealer in mid west that is selling half the price I was quoted . We might buy - but probably won’t . Dealers always try to push this during sale .

I still think 1300 dollars is not terrible. Warranty companies are insurance companies and they work on odds. Overall they win. But if your the unlucky one ( or lucky one ) that a major item fails at 80 k miles then you win.Its all about what your comfortable with. I’ve seen people make out and others never do

Another thing to think about , are you going to modify your truck ? Plenty of dealerships will blame any warranty work on an aftermarket modification. What’s the sense in paying extra for warranty when the stealerships look for any way possible to void it ??

They were definitely high fivin after you left. Maybe even threw a party. Sorry but seriously, Cancel it ASAP as it is pro rated. Finance guy will be charged back but o well!
Dealer cost for my used 2017 was $1300 (I work for dealer) and that was after it was out of factory warranty due to milage at the time. I don’t remember cost if still under warranty new but it’s like $800 or something.l give or take. Depends on term years/milage. cancle and go have a nice dinner knowing you are no longer getting screwed.

O yea, just walk into dealer forget faxing and letters and tell them to cancel. It takes a minute or so threw the computer. be prepared as finance guy will do what ever he can to change your mind as he is now loosing thousands in profit over cost. Tell him another dealer offered it for 100 over cost. He will ask you what it is and simply say match it or I am going with other dealer. He will as he has a target number to meet each month for his quarterly hit numbers to get paid.
hope this helps. Sometimes if they are a few numbers off at end of month they will throw a low milage one in for FREE to help hit there numbers for the store.

Well , wife and i will be riding to the Toyota dealership this morning to cancel. Our 2017 Carolla with 19,000 miles has began to lose the paint in 2 small spots where the hood meets the fender. After many calls and no call backs , we are going to cancel and use the money to have our local body shop to fix it. Look out business manager Mark , you're getting ready to catch an earful.

Ok , went to the dealership. I filed my paint chipping claim in March. Have exchanged emails and phone calls since, so today they look into it and tell me it was approved in March. Only problem is , no one contacted me. So now the claim has expired , but they say it will be no problem getting it renewed. I showed the business manager all of my emails and call to the helpline . They are trying to figure out why we were never contacted. Once the car is painted , i will be cancelling my extended warranty. Im sure there is something in that pile of paperwork that gives them a reason to deny any coverage. May as well get my 1500 bucks back.

At my 25,000 mile service, they offered me the prepaid maintenance plan for $275. So I'm covered until at least 45,000 miles. I'd wait until you get closer to the end of Toyotacare and see what kind of deal they can give you then.

Cancel it as soon as you can get to the dealership. Get whatever pro-rated money is remaining and cut your losses. You will do a much better job with oil changes and tire rotations if you do them yourself because you have a vested interest in the truck. If something does go wrong, the dealership will absolutely up-charge you out the wazoo to fix usually minor problems.

I canceled mine after 3 months. Finance guy wasn't real happy and did his best to talk me out of it.

I got the same pressure from my sales guy but stuck to my guns. I told him my 01 taco had 225,000 on it and I hadn’t spent 4000$ on maintenance in close to 20 years. I paid for the the warranty on that truck and never used once. He tried to tell me that the CPU stuff won’t last as long as the rest of the truck and that I should warranty that. I still said no. I figure by the time my CPU has problems, it’ll be so outdated (7-10 years) I wouldn’t want to use it anyways, or I’d upgrade with aftermarket stuff. As far as maintenance, I’ve had 2 bad experiences with dealerships doing oil changes (didn’t tighten drain plug once and another time, never put a oil filter in) so I’m done with fluid changes at dealerships o_O the 20 year old kid changing oil doesn’t give 2 shits about your truck and the Toyota master tech is not the one doing it.
IMO, cancel both and use on some fun mods:D or a vacation at that price!

I cancelled mine a few day after I bought my Tacoma. Cancel it within the 30 days of the purchase and you should be able to get it all back minus a $50 processing fee which is stupid but you can't avoid unless the terms on your contract are different. If you financed it through TFS, they'll just deduct the amount off your loan unless the dealership hasn't sent it to TFS yet, then the dealership might be able to just cut you a check for the whole amount.

my favorite part is how the salesman says it's "a top of the line truck, you won't buy anything better." Then the finance manager says "it's a POS and the repairs are expensive, Get the extended warranty" Like wtf how is that a good sales pitch?

Same. Last car I bought after 20 min of sales pitch from the finance guy I interrupted him firmly “look man, I’m gonna save all of us a lot of time here. We are buying the car only. No gap ins, no warranty, no maintenance, no paint bullshit, no vin etch, nothing. Can we jus move on?” Long pause......*big sigh* Fine. Out the door 15 min later.

When I bought my truck, the Covid uncertainty was really hitting the dealerships. I did all of my negotiations via e-mail and text. The finance guy called me about an hour after I texted my salesman telling him that I wanted my truck. Our conversation went...Finance guy: "Do you want anything else with the truck, like an extended warranty?" Me: "Nope, just the truck." Finance guy: "Cool, thanks." It took all of 20 seconds. My brother had the same experience with his Jeep Gladiator about a week later. He did everything online, and in under 20 minutes after arriving at the dealership, he was driving out with his new Jeep. No hard sales on anything. Just sign here, sign there, here are the keys, take care.
