does the backside for the driver mat look like either one of these?
both are OEM quality...

This shock mount location is a pretty common spot for rust, the shock bracket inside the frame traps water and dirt there and is hidden behind the spare tire so
it get missed on inspection unless the space tire is dropped.
Did you cut the whole front rusted plate section off and weld a new section or did you weld a section over it?
Or a safety cap section

 

Yes noticeable increase. Fuel trims are closer to where they should be also. Might still need to pull the injectors. I love my first gen despite its many obvious flaws. The project aspect of it makes modifications seem less pointless. Taking off brand new parts for marginal gains always made me feel weird on my newer cars of the past

 

It was done twice. First time my fabricator cut out the old rust and put a patch over the weak areas and ginded down the welds. I went back for a more through repair and he platted a 2.5 foot panel over the original repair. Shock mounts were fully boxed out as well. If you look through the build you will see the first round of rust repair

 

Any photos of the boxed weld for the shock?

 

Wait so you do all that work to make a shock mount.... to keep a crusty ass shock
