I don't like the push button starts and I sure as hell don't like the dial-a-gear bullshit which is part of my problem with the RAM. But it looks like the Fords still have an actual gear shift lever? I need to go drive one of these Fords.

Morning all! Back from vacation.... :pout:
Did I miss anything while I was gone from the internet?
That's correct. The 5.7 is plenty of motor for me 98% of the time, and no MDS BS to worry about.

Already? Didn't you just swap vehicles because of an accident last year?

Generally speaking, the Fords have a column shifter in anything with bench seats. If it's got bucket seats, it has a console shifter, the exception being the STX trim.

Push button start is standard in the Lariat and above. XLT, XL, and STX have a normal key.

    This shows the size.

I keep my house key and work keys for the two buildings I am in most on the ring with the truck key. My giant set of work keys for the other buildings stays in the truck unless I need it. I may have to rethink that, but it was nice having everything I use almost daily on one set.

Yeah, there are a few reasons for the jump. The new truck is not behaving like the '18 did. I think they changed the programming on the tranny and it pisses me off when towing. I end up having to use manual mode for damn near the whole time with the trailer. There's also a very, very loud cooling fan that they added to the '19 that makes for a fairly unpleasant experience on long trips. It was on quite a bit during our last trip and the outside temps were only in the 70's. The '19 is also getting 7 MPG towing the camper, 7! The '18 was thirsty, the '19 is really bad. I was getting between 9 and 11 with the '18.

Admittedly, none of those were reasons to dump the truck, it had plenty of power and towed the camper just fine. I didn't buy the gasser for fuel efficiency, unloaded it was doing similar to the '18. I'm guessing I could have had it reflashed to cure most of those issues. I've been kicking myself for nothing buying the diesel the first time around, found a really good deal on one and they got close with the trade number. This is definitely more of a 'nice to have' than a need, I'm not even attempting to kid myself about it. We are starting to plan some longer road trips with the camper, including down to Disney, so that oil burner will make those a little more enjoyable from the driver's seat. I did all my homework on the new diesel maintenance and am prepared to undertake it all. Hopefully I have good luck and don't regret this decision in a few years!

Ouch! That's worse MPG's than I get hauling my dump trailer with a load in it. Lower drag, probably, but considerably more weight. I'd upgrade to the diesel too, for that sort of MPG punishment.

I have a feeling it all has to do with the new tranny mapping. The '18 had the same engine, same trailer, same idiot at the helm and, even though 7-9 or 10 doesn't seem huge, percentage-wise, that's a big jump. When I did the spreadsheet on diesel payoff, assuming you took a $9k bath on the initial procurement, you'd need to own it for about 250k miles to make it back in fuel savings (assuming you don't end up with a major out of warranty repair). I'm trading for about half of that. New truck is also a '19, 25k miles. The one I'm trading in is also a '19, 25k miles so I'm really just doing an engine swap. I'm keeping the black wheels with the Michelin tires also (No Continentals for me).

Just got home from signing for the new truck. Still have the black truck until Thursday when I bring it in to swap the wheels. One of the owners of the dealership was my finance guy and he told me they ended up making less than $500 on the diesel after I was done beating up his salesman. It was weird, he said it with almost a 'well done' sort of tone. But, papers are signed, it's officially mine and the process was very quick and painless.

I saw someone did that out with the diesel Colorado and the Tacoma. It was basically like 450k miles before the diesel was worth it.

the frontier was like 300k miles before the more fuel efficient Tacoma was worth it. I still bought the Tacoma instead.

What's really crazy about smaller displacement diesels is the expected lifespan. I'm not sure about the Colorado specifically, but the half ton 3.0L diesels are all rated for an anticipated lifespan of 150k miles by the manufacturers' own admission! I'm sure they'll run longer but they're not expected to. Factor that in and it'll never pay off... At least you know the HD diesel block will make it to higher mileage, just a matter of whether the rest of it keeps up.

Oh and, side note, don't google 'CP4 failure' if you just bought a diesel

I bought my truck in December but am already looking at replacements. I looked into modern diesel trucks and it’s just a mess. I’m sure they’re fun but good lord all the regs and costs, just isn’t worth it. I’m looking at the 3.3 NA F150 now

It was eerie. They furloughed most of the staff, the place was a ghost town! The salesman I dealt with was one of 2 they kept on (I think out of like 15) and he said he's been stupid busy. He personally has drastically increased his sell rate but the dealership as a whole is way, way, way down on sales but service is slammed.

Yup a lot of places are going contact-less shopping and delivery. My friend's husband is a mechanic at McGee in Hanover and I think 5 mechanics got kept throughout from about 25-30, and sales was down to bare bones too

    Morning all!

Local dealerships here are the same way; most of the sales staff is out and sales are down, but the service department guys said that they're slamming.

If anyone wants a beautiful meticulously maintained F-150, the dealer just listed mine for sale. For $39,635. That's about what I paid brand new, give or take a few hundred. The price has to be a mistake.

Whoa... what year was it? That's in line with what I just paid for the diesel.

It does have some desirable unusual options, like 3.73s and the OEM Kicker subwoofer. Also nearly new Grabber AT2s and it's super clean inside and out. But I don't see them breaking 30k on it due to the miles.

    I think they maybe put a 3 instead of a 2.
