It's a headache for sure.. Whoever built/updated this house 100% filled the panel with the most asinine circuit layout.. 30 slots/circuits and the only ones that make sense are the dedicated AC/Stove/dryer circuits. I'm really not trying to rewire the entire house. The same jackass didn't staple their wires below the panel and looped at least one wire over a stud, and the drywaller just missed it with a nail.

Yea.. Most of it's not a fire/safety hazard just annoyances like not being able to add anything to the garage.

you should check your math on the box. They make compressed breakers now that will fit two into one slot. Square D and all the big names just need to make sure you aren’t overloading the capacity of the box. I always put in 220 for welder, air and plasma so after 15 moves in the Army I got it down now.

I'm putting a boat lift in at the dock DownEast and the wiring at the house is old to say the least... 1940's ... gotta make a 300 foot run of 8 gauge wire to the dock. I'm gonna rent the ditch witch and run the wire myself to save some coin and then call in the pro's to hook up the circuit breakers. Trying to avoid going back to the future messing with the breaker box ... Contractor wanted 8G's to do the whole job I'm thinking I can do it for half. Raising the I-beams on top of the pilings should be interesting without a barge with a backhoe on it but I'm sure I'll come up with something.

Yep I picked up some of the doubled/tandem breakers with that exactly in mind. The box I have currently is a 30slot/30circuit, so I'm reading that as it can't support tandem breakers. I wanted to run a 100amp feed to the garage and put in a sub panel to run outlets, lights, and 220v from.

    House service is 200amp

I am no electrician and not of code on sub panels but the boxes are not rated in code by slots only current capacity. So you can fill only 15 of 30 slots and still exceed the panel capacity rating. As long as they fit and you do not exceed the current capacity you are good.

Any local recommendations for a custom driveshaft? I have only seen triangle driveshaft and fleet pride. I am not terribly interested in driving to Winston Salem to Oliver’s in front wheel drive if I have to though.

Olivers would be my recommendation, maybe someone else will have something closer though. I wouldn't be worried at all about driving Fwd to Winston from my own experience and what I have heard from others. AOP to here is about 8hrs and I had no problems or drivability issues.
