Where's your panel in relation to the garage? Adding 240 is easy. Running wires may or may not be easy.

It would actually be pretty easy to pull 240 to my garage, but the cost/time of that and I might as well get the 120/240 ready machine and call it a day. By most accounts (YouTube) the Titanium 140 does a great job on 120v.

I other news, I got some Lincoln .035 flux. it welded a lot better. Still need to play around a bit and then it's spindle gusset time!

I wouldn't use it for spindles. Not using mine for them anyway. Taking to work and having someone MIG them.

I think mine could handle it. But, it will be tedious and lengthy for me to do it. That part of the "fun" though, right?

    Right guys?

    Guys?

running flux always had me like :annoyed:
It pissed me off cause I could never make it look good. Don’t get me wrong my MIG welds are perfect, but for having 0 formal training, I’m pretty dang good I think. I’m not sure what kind of strength you’ll get out of flux welds either.

I second that. Aren't the spindles cast & don't get good penetration with a MIG? I read about it a while ago but I don't recall the reasoning.

If they’re cast that’s a totally different ball game. Cast is hard to weld to. It has to be heated first and it can’t cool off to fast or the welds will crack.

For 3rd gen they are forged. Can't speak to 2nd gen

2nd gen is cast steel. Pre-heat, weld quickly-ish, then cool in sand or tight wrapped weld-blanket (or similar fire retardant material)
You better make certain of this 100%. I absolutely wouldn't trust this cheap flux core to get near enough pen to reliably hold the gusset on. Gusset plates are minimum 1/8" steel from what I've seen, welded to roughly ~3/4" material.

I'm not trying to shatter your hopes and dreams, just don't want you bombing a trail or crawling a rock and snapping a spindle from a shitty HF welder :cheers:

not shattered, but maybe cracked, haha!

I'm 99.978% sure they are forged. Every source I've looked specifically calls this out.

    Maybe I'll discuss with @Summers_Kytaco_19 more :)

Even if forged, our lil welder just doesn't posses the ass to get a good weld imo. I'm novice as well to welding, and certainly didn't buy mine for spindle gussets or even with the thought in my brain. It's good enough to run a bead on cam tabs, light half-ass repair on my bumpers or skids, and home projects.

I think it could "weld" 1/4" steel, but I certainly wouldn't stake my life on this $100 box.

If I didn't work where I do, or have the access to much better equipment, I wouldn't know any of this info and be blind leading the blind lol
