lol no mistakes around here OR ELSE

It’s a bad mistake I’ll admit but damn OP is just looking for a solution and admits he feels like a dumb ass. No one was hurt. Lesson learned.

This time. 20 years in service and I can count on one hand how many negligent discharges I’ve seen. That’s with fingers to spare.

He has at least one too many.

I didn’t mean by me. Average of 130 soldiers a year x20 days. Sorry but guns are something where you need to be perfect every time. Call me a dick for thinking that way if you want. Don’t really care either way, I made one comment and my point, now we are just digressing.

    That’s fine. I think it’s a bit extreme but that’s my .2

I’m sure moving forward he’s going to triple check if there’s any mag there, and it won’t be a mistake made again. But, to you, one mess up is too much. To each his own. I see both sides.

I think in the case of what he was trying to refer to was with remington, the Sears were slipping. I forgot all the details of the lawsuit, but it was a strict mechanical problem. Moving the safety from no pew to pew would discharge the rifle. Dropping, mortaring and generally taking a nice a nice pot hole at some speed was enough to let the dear slip on those older triggers.

Edit: nvm I saw you already new about the recall in a later post.

No doubt some were truly accidental. However, the cbs story painted it out to be that if you looked at the damn gun it would fire. They had one family on where a child was killed by the mother i believe. Truly a travesty, but the muzzle had to be pointed at the child when it “went” off, to cause the death. Never rely on the safety, and point that muzzle in a safe direction at all times.

There are those that have never had a ND and there are those of us that have. We as human's are not perfect. I've been shooting competitively for nearly 20 years and have had something similar happen to me 6-7 years ago. No-one was hurt, gun(AR-15) was pointed in safe direction and I have never repeated that mistake. Learn from it and move on. I'm so glad no-one was hurt.

I mean shit happens. I was the RSO (Range Safety officer for a week while I was in the Marine Corps. I saw some serious safety violations including MY LT flag the entire pistol line. Even those of us who are trained make mistakes. God forbid some of you hard talkers accidentally slip up.

Since I know someone is going to ask, the RSO is a rotating position to keep accountability at the range when I was in. You literally had to take a computer class and quick face to face class to be qualified. I literally called the range hot, sat in the tower and pulled people off the line of they fucked up bad enough.

This dude seems like he messed up and said so. Good luck with fixing your shit dude.
