3hr drive from The Woodlands to Georgetown about 70degrees outside. Transmission was around 156-60 at speed limit. And then bumped up to 170 when I was pulling 90mph. Engine stays pretty constant around 186-190

    I have a 2015 Tacoma Prerunner 4-Door SR5 4.0L V6 Towing Package.
    Post #27's Transmission temperature 1 - TF1 worked.
Transmission temperature 2 - TF2 did not work.
I'm happy with a basic transmission pan temp.
I had a 2012 Tundra 4.7L V8 which had a transmission temp gauge in the dash gauge cluster, I have missed it because I tow a 21 foot travel trailer. Towing the trailer did not much affect the transmission temp with the Tundra, will see what it does with the Tacoma. Tacoma Scanguage II TF1 transmission temp runs between 145 - 150F, will see if it increases with the travel trailer, weighs about 5500lb. I live in Georgia (Athens), only have towed to the south from here, no mountains, Flatlander.
I found this about transmission temps.
    http://transmissionrepairguy.com/transmission-temperature-gauge/
"High fluid temperatures are ultimately what kills your transmission; it is estimated that around 90% of all transmission failures are due to excessive heat."

Using the codes in post # 27, I successfully programmed TF1 and TF2 into my SG II. Piece o' cake!. FWIW, my Scangauge is version 6.2.

Could someone post a video of how they setup Torque Pro to get accurate trans temps? I’ve read all the threads I can to try and get it to work. A quick video would be awesome with the PID formula.

    Thanks,

Not sure, as this thread is on the Scangauge.

You might have to do research in here:
    http://torque-bhp.com/forums/

Then use this video where the user puts in custom PID for Torque Pro app, as an example for your application.

I know this thread is extremely old but I’ve been searching everywhere and can’t find an answer.

Does the 2006 have both pan and torque converter temps? Or is it only able to monitor the pan temp? I’ve tried a few codes for trans temp and have one being read but not sure where it’s reading from.

Edit: I put in two different trans temp codes and took a drive, they were both different. One would go up when accelerating at first, then cool down, can I assume that one is the torque converter and other is pan?

Id bet your assumption is correct. But im not sure if the 06 has it 100%. It took some fiddling and tons of time researching on here to get my TF1 and TF2 to work on my 15.y TF2 is pretty constant once it’s up to speed so I’m guessing that’s a pan reading.

Hmm okay. Why is it so hard to find codes? The website only lists trans temp codes for 2005-2010s so I have to go on a crazy search for everything else.
