Psh I could say the same about you! I’ve gone off the deep end with all the time at home. Bobbed my bed, built custom front and rear bumpers, the works.

Hit a buck going 60mph. Its a coastal offroad bumper and it wasnt actually bolted on all the way yet when I hit the suicidal deer. The bumper and frame were ok but the core support got bent inward a little. A little come along action fixed the core support, and I had to buy a new grille.

Nice stuff man, yea after my taco got totaled i sorta stopped coming on this forum lol
But i have been slowly modding my 4runner. Paid it off in 15 months after slaving away on overtime for a few months. So now the big mods can start, before the end of the year itll be lifted front and rear and likely a front steel bumper around black friday.IMG_20200630_131728_533.jpg IMG_20200503_200747_924.jpg

Quick noob question so apologies guys, but let’s say one has a damaged front bumper that needs fixing at the body shop and wants an aftermarket bumper but these damn lead times tho for shipment. What do folks normally do bc the truck just can’t sit at the body shop for 8-10 weeks right !? Just curious bc I’ve never been in a situation such as this before. Thanks.

When that happened to me, I had them fix everything but leave the bumper off, then just drove it home. I used another vehicle the 3 weeks it took for my aftermarket one to arrive. I dont know what your situation is, but I had to settle for my favorite in stock/short lead time bumper as opposed to waiting however many months for the one I originally wanted. Atleast I had the truck back home, even if I couldn't drive it around for a while. Also, I only lived 2 minutes from the shop so it wasnt a big deal to drive it home, as insurance would likely have a field day on my lack of a bumper if anything happened on that short drive.

Man thanks for replying. Yeah I dunno what would be best to do honestly. Which bumper did u end up going with ? I really love the BAMF and C4 hybrid ones hit of course ridiculous lead times may force my hand to getting something less desirable. I don’t wanna go back to the original OEM fiberglass but hell I dunno. There’s not much time for decision on these things and that sucks. Any advice ? Did u just rent a car for longer and have some body shop install the bumper when it came in ? Was it already painted ?

I originally wanted a brute force fab bumper, but 14 weeks was out of the question. An expensive, big mod isnt something you want to settle on so be sure to look through your options. Personally I HATE all the big brand bumpers that are instantly available at places like 4wp, and most of the great bumpers you see here on TW are all made to order. I decided I could wait the 2 weeks + shipping from victory 4x4 because it was very close to what I wanted and not too long of a wait. Brands from from the all pro/trailgear group usually have stuff in stock, but look through the vendors list here and check to see who has the lowest lead times. You could also keep an eye on BST forums, craigslist, or even see if theres a local shop that does off road fabrication. I was able to borrow a car from a family member, idk about renting for a few weeks as it could get really expensive. And if by painted you mean the bumper, yeah I got it powder coated and installed it myself. Putting a bumper on these second gens is easy, the only hard part is not banging up your fenders getting it lined up. Two people definately make it easier. Like you said, dont settle for something "less desirable," but look to see what else you might like.

most definitely man that’s kinda what I’m thinking too. After dragging feet for awhile my truck is finally at the body shop and I’m going tomorrow morning to sign something before they begin their process and I’m guessing the estimation and breakdown. Any advice on what i should say or do? I’ve been reaching out to vendors on here to try and see what’s available on the 2nd gen bumper scene and it’s kinda tough. Some things available but the problem is not Exactly what I want. And I know I’ll be biting myself If I go the easy and available route and now is prob not the time to be picky. I really like the looks of the front bumper options by C4 and BAMF fabrications but I’m sure others are too. I really like the front LED light bar cutouts that I just haven’t seen on some of the other ones. There’s a deal going on TJM ones and I also saw an someone listing the Chassisunlimited Octane bumper too. ManI’ve been going nuts researching all this and it’s a whole new area for me

Also any input on bed lining the bumper ?

It's up to you to decide whether or not they'll replace your bumper. This isnt something you settle on, and it's not worth saving money if the product isnt what you want. In my case, my 2nd choice fit my criteria so I didnt see it as settling. If you really cant find something you like, just go back to stock.

TJM is basically a copy of the ARB and should be close to, if not identical, in strength. The top bars are a little different, but they are very similar. You should be able to find the ARB in stock somewhere. I bought mine from TRDparts4U, which is just the Toyota of Dallas parts department that happens to carry several other off-road brands. Other places like @Truck Brigade or @state48overland might also be able to help.

Since there are so many options, it's unlikely that the fab shops will have any just waiting to ship. If you need something quick, the ARB is probably your best bet (and I don't consider that settling at all, as it was my first choice).

I'm probably a day late and dollar short. Both front and rear bumpers got hit and I took the insurance check and drove around with damage until i got the bumper I wanted. But my damage was mostly local do the bumper with minor cosmetic damage to parts around.
This might be a long shot for you, but if you know a welder, oo if the body shop will take on the job you can order a bumper kit and have it welded together. I've been looking at the NWTI front bumper kit to replace my eBay front.
Also, I did bed liner over paint and it hold up pretty well, but I do next to no offroading. Occasionally tough it up with a rattle can.

looks like Ironman is doing 20% off bumpers right now, but I don't see one offered for my year.

Does anyone know the true part number for pre face lift 2nd Gen ARB bumpers? 4wp lists two different numbers in Canada and the price is slightly different.
