No it didn't survive, shame, would have trolled him around for a while otherwise... I would say his eyes were bigger than his stomach too, but look at the size of his mouth!

Nice, that is huuuge! I went out for the first time in 2.5years just recently, within 20 seconds of putting my store bought opelu in The water My reel started to scream. In my panic I knocked the freespool lever and got me a big birds nest... after a short battle this huge barracuda came to the surface. Was excited and disappointed cause I thought it was my first Ono.
    Are you Hawaii based?
EDIT: just watched some of your vids and subscribed:)

would love to see your trolling setup for the Ono’s if you’re willing to share... I’ve been using a single hook and the Nitta rigs.

Floated today. Sloooow as shit. Caught a decent 15.5” rainbow and a little stocker brookie. Had another rainbow I didn’t get a pic of.

Logged 14 miles today. Caught about 12 fish between 4 of us. Smarter fish and less fish. Lake gets used up pretty good.

Got my wife on her first brookie in Montana!AA1179F4-B236-4DED-90CA-EB477FE4CEC5.jpg
She also had a decent sized Cut hooked up but she got excited and tried to flip it onto the bank and lost it. Live and learn.

Caught this nice Cut on an absolute shitty cast. Line went over a dead tree limb and I actually hooked up. Waded into the water to untangle the line and land the fish. Was a good day.

Crazy coloration on this fish too. Other cuts I’ve seen are more red/pink than orange.

Amazing day in the Beartooth’s otherwise!

So now I have the 4/5 main trout species right? Rainbow, Brown, Brook, Cutthroat. Only thing left is Golden. I know there are subspecies too but I’m just trying to get the main ones now.

Wished I would have been more into trout in California. Could have hiked the kern basin for native Golden trout. And even had an acquaintance offer to take me out to chase Lahontan Cutthroats... Oh well. Guess I’ll have something to do when we go back to visit the inlaws...

Hike to chase Golden Trout has been confirmed. It's an absolute grind of a hike. 1k vertical gain per mile. I'm so excited I cant contain myself. I spend my lunch break making a list of stuff I need and what pack I'm going to take.

This past weekend was a shit show for fishing. Wife's uncle caught smalls all afternoon at a ridiculous rate using hard swim bait and some weight in about 25'-35' water. I went out just before sunset to the same place, the dropoff from about 5' to the deep part and even tried the weeds, with hard and soft swimmers and plastic worms Texas rigged... Only thing I caught was some shitty bluegill.

Sorry, 1buzzbait, I did not take a picture of my majestic 4" bluegill. :p

Bro I F***** know! I’m half tempted to go solo which isn’t a big deal but my wife already found out that he bailed so she assumed I wasn’t going and I have a big honey do list already.. Moving a damn wall in the basement..

Oh well. I need some Kitchen points anyhow, I’ve been cashing in too many recently :D

Already was able to talk the warden into taking a day trip with the family out to a creek to get the kids out for a bit... what she doesn’t know is I’m bringing my pole...
