I generally don't support shitty brands so John Deere wouldn't even be on my list. I know my uncle and a friend's dad love their Cub Cadets for each of their properties.

this is also highly variable dependent on the type and wavelength of the antenna and NMO mounted vs magnetic mount.

Like example a 1/2 wave or 5/8 antenna doesn’t even really need a “ground” plain at all. Anything short though will need somewhat of a ground. But principles of binding panels like in the cb world don’t really apply either.

I have an XT1 46-inch with a Kohler engine. Price-wise/features it definitely is better than the JD. I have a pretty steep hill in my yard and it does fine. I probably shouldn't be driving up it for the sake of safety, but it chugs right up with a forward lean from me (that's the safety part). My only gripe about it is the mulching kit. The mulching plug thing needs a little modification to work well. Other than that the thing has been a workhorse. There's a JD dealer on Sudley Road near the Prince William County Fairgrounds. I wouldn't shop them at the box stores, they supposedly get certain models that are cheaper.

Again, you're welcome to come by and take a look/drive on mine.

I don't have hills to deal with but I believe the LT2 front engine (traditional mower) have models that are better suited for limited rear slip type setup.

I have a 46" Cub Cadet traditional rider, only got it this winter/spring, but my BiL has the 42" version for two seasons and has been happy with it...and he does have a little decline/elevation on his 1/2 acre. Also, my dad has one of their zero turns for the last 7+ years and has been very happy with it.

Also if you have a cub cadet dealer near they're a great resource.

I think our closest one is in Culpepper or Warrenton.

I guess I'm spoiled with one up the road a mile from my office...now I don't do service with them, heck I have only hit the 5 hour oil and filter change!

The closeness of the JD dealer almost got me to purchasing one, but then I price compared and nope. I haven't had a need for a dealer yet so I'm hoping this is standard. I have around 90 hours and have only done maintenance. I added the Bluetooth monitor so it keeps track of everything for me. If only this was the only mod on my tractor........ :D It's a sickness and I'm afflicted.

Nokesville is closest to me. I was mistaken. It's 20 minutes away. I really need to get that think before speaking thing down.

I want a zero turn but I also know my son will want to ride with me. so yeah lol
Cub Cadet seems to be at the top on everyones list that I read. My inlaws out in MN brought up John Deere but considering farmland and the Store is there and everyone grew up with everyone guess its a bit different

I got about 1.25 acre to cut with a few slopes nothing crazy crazy. Don't know how much more I want to push mow haha. I might have to take you up on that

Thanks for the insight. I have been wondering if I should get a 46 vs 42.

    Wait bluetooth monitor waaat?
Oh snap gonna have to take a look.

Well at least should a dealer necessary issue arise, you know you're only 20min drive away!

1.25 acres gut says 46" or larger, unless you have lots of narrow or tight areas to mow. Get as big as you can afford/fit through gates/access doorways!

I think my driving factor will be the shed. I'll have to measure that.

I have an acre, but only half of it is cleared. I did it with a push mower for two years. I could do it, but that was about it for me for the day. And it was taking three hours to do. Wife kept telling me to get a rider, and I resisted as long as I could. Buying this thing was one of the best purchases. Mine is probably overkill for my lot, but it's come in handy for so much crap. I have a spreader that makes overseeding and fertilizing a few minute affair, and I've rented an aerator every year to do the yard. It also came in crazy handy when I was clearing a portion of my lot. I plan on leveling out that portion at some point and it'll come in handy again.

Cub Cadet makes a little Bluetooth monitor. Some of the tractors come with it, some it can be added on. It connects to an app that displays your hours and when maintenance is due. It can also link you to the owner's manual and the site to purchase parts for the maintenance. It can be buggy, but I don't use it that much. It is handy though.

Does @Cody23 still have the bed stiffeners? They're 3rd gen and I assume include all necessary hardware beyond the OEM stuff?
