Oh I know who it was but I don't like to bad mouth in public forums even if its justified. I would rather promote people who have done me right.

I have a good friend who is a retired machinist who used to build race cars, so I am in the same boat as you with my hole Ace lol. He has helped me with tricky stuff for sure. I just need to find a good welder at this point. I have done a fair bit in the past but I am out of practice, and just sold my mig to save for something bigger. But in the mean time I don't want to be re-learning on my truck frame :welder:.

I hear ya. I’ve got someone you can call and I know he can stack a pretty good dime if you wanna PM. Idk if he will take it on but it’s worth a call.

Just rebuilt. I haven't actually ordered them yet. Was wanting to make sure I'd have some local options to rebuild so I wouldn't go 2-3 weeks without my truck.

I have a welder, too, if that previous recommendation does not work out. He's in South Knoxville

I've had Rocky Top do good work at fair prices. I would use them again if it was something I couldn't do myself. I'm surprised they don't rebuild coilovers.

It shouldnt be that hard to do a coilover rebuild yourself. I assume.
When I did a dirt bike suspension years ago, i did everything except nitrogen fill. A motorcycle shop did nitrogen fill in about 5 minutes. Was much cheaper than paying them for the full rebuild. Different shock design but still, truck coilover doesn't look too bad to do as long as you can keep pieces organized and not mix up order of all the shims.

I don't know why people don't like to name names in forums when a shop does blatantly bad work. Just call a spade a spade and be straightforward with people rather than teasing folks who are looking for good advice on shops.

Good for you on researching this kind of stuff before ordering the blingest shocks you can get because TW says it's the baller move. The reality is that even local places can take a while to turn shocks around so be prepared to go without them for stretches of time if you plan on having a shop go through them. The best alternative is rebuilding them yourself. They are pretty easy to take apart and service with new seals, just need a fill gauge and a nitrogen bottle. Gauges run around $100 and a bottle with regulator will be less than $100 as well.

    Hi all,

I'm in MD, so posting here to see if I can get some help with transport from the Southeast. Working out a deal to buy some 1st gen rock sliders from @rybern (he's in AL)--Weight is 105 lbs, package would be 6" x 16" x 82"

Timing is flexible on my end--no rush, but preferably line something up by end of July.

Anyone happening to be planning to travel part way or all the way from approximately Knoxville area (or points south if possible) to approximately D.C. area (or points north if possible)? Anyone able to "lend a bed"?

Honestly that new Bronco is insane. They looked at all the crap we do to our rigs, and just went ahead and built it that way. This will be a game changer to our hobby/lifestyle/whatever, as this puts tremendous pressure on all the other makers, Toyota included, to step up. I thought the new Gladiator looked a little hokey and I moved on, not really interested despite some of the cool stuff they did, but when I look at the new Bronco, I just say 'damn'.

Toyota has been conducting a ton of survey's over the last 6 months under the Toyota Intersection Program. The focus has centered around just what Ford has just delivered in the Bronco; all the aftermarket mods we perform on our Tacoma's. They are looking at everything from suspension upgrade offerings, bumper offerings, sliders, lighting, roof racks, bed systems, and even ECU tune offerings. You are absolutely correct when you say that all other manufacturers are going to need to step up their game to compete in this market.
