Nice deal, about same as mine precovid w/out rebate, I'd still get a refund if you can on the platinum warranty. I paid $1040 for mine (zero deductible, 6yr/125k), so they made some money off you, Troy D. at factory direct will hook you up with close to dealer cost on those.

Very wrong, plenty of "upper middle class" people here lost their jobs and friends across the country, my uncle who is a Vice President of Operations for a major hotel brand included, cousin who does marketing for a major home away from home type company you may know, a few teachers here, fellow nurses, might want to rephrase before you just start discrediting the impact this has had on ALL.

This is true... It had some extras... Tech package, LEDs all around, bed lights

I think the tech package was 700 alone or something. The sticker on it was 39K. It's a good time to buy.

As always, interesting and helpful posts. Can you tell me how this works? I don't think I had any discussion on extended warranty -- but we did a COVID deal and were in masks. Is Factory Direct a Toyota reseller or is this a separate, after market warranty altogether? Sorry ... but I am very curious.

So TFS sets a base price or dealer cost for their warranties, the dealer can then charge whatever they want, that's why you see some crazy price fluctuations (remember this is where the finance guy along with rate, service plans, etc. gets a chance to make his money). Troy is a finance manager / online sales guy at a Toyota Dealer of Greenfield, but basically sells them at cost to achieve volume and I'm sure a kick back from Toyota. I used him for my 2020, but on my prior trucks you could take his quote usually and have your dealer match it or try to beat it (they will say they can't usually, since they make no money at all on it at that price), did this on my 19 in AZ. Contrary to what the dealer will tell you you can buy out of state for the extended warranty.

No question that this situation is devastating the entire economy. For example, look at advertising (not traditionally a low wage sector): "More than 65% of advertising professionals fear company layoffs as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, according to a new report from professional social network Fishbowl shared with Marketing Dive. This number is above the average 54% of professionals across industries that believe the outbreak and subsequent revenue losses will lead to layoffs at their company." Similar fears -- and layoffs -- are being reported for the financial services sector as well.

That said, it is fair to say the impact of the situation has hit low wage earners much harder:
    https://www.mckinsey.com/industries...e-near-term-impact-of-covid-19-on-us-workers#

And, I am not sure we are any where near the light at the end of the tunnel. That said, you have to hand it to Toyota for inventory management during a pandemic. They managed to not only stabilize but rather increase prices for their bread and butter products. And they are still lining up piles of cash to weather the storm long term. Pretty good planning. I just hope things recover quickly so everyone can get the truck of their dreams. However, in the near and medium term, if you see a good deal grab it because with demand increasing and product supply not keeping pace, prices will be stable. The best bet is to find a dealer who has to deal because they are smaller (I found my truck at a family owned Toyota dealer) and don't have the credit line access to sit on inventory.

I need to look into this. Thank you! Guy is smart. If he takes a low margin on something that is easy to sell that Toyota underwrites and gives him an incentive everybody wins. Not like my BMW X3 Diesel. Tried to buy an extended warranty on that after it was paid off and the price was in the $7K range -- which told me everything I needed to know about long term reliability. Shame though, that diesel was a total beast.

Agree, but to just have a narrow mindset of only "low paid service workers" as being impacted is pretty ignorant, hence me needing to speak up for a second.

I work in Education and I was very fearful of being laid off over the lockdown. I work in the IT department too. they didn't let any of us go, since we went to online classes my work just changed a bit. I had other friends that work in medical that lost some of their income because there weren't people coming for routine care. Dentists and vision care were closed except for emergency needs. So lots of good jobs were lost, some not, some lower paying jobs like grocery actually got more from the companies they work for during covid in the form of bonus pay. My one brother works for a company that repairs trailers, to keep products moving they were very busy, my other brother did food sales mostly to restaurants and is still not back to work. All industries were affected differently.

Jeep has a really good extended plan, basically covers EVERYTHING, but its not cheap either. Toyota knows they sell a reliable product which I'm sure plays into what the average cost of claims/repairs will cost TFS under 125k. Just remember you have up until 3yr/36k to buy so I wouldnt rush. The price has only gone up about $100 in 4 years for Tacoma.

Is that a bumper-to-bumper warranty or just powertrain?

I am with you 100%. That is definitely not correct. The other thing is that if it were true (even though the data says it is not) it would still be enough to justify action. I am sure that the poster didn't mean it the way it came across but those people matter a great deal and if they were the only ones being impacted it will still be a tragedy in need of our support. But that could be just me ...

$1k for b2b sounds pretty good! Might have to look into that when I get my 2020.

Agreed, sorry, just at my wits end with some of the COVID related statements these days, some people need to pay a visit to the hospital or look outside their little hemisphere. Now back to pricing related content.

Indeed, especially when you think about the cost of say replacing a BSM sensor, etc.

@TacoBuffet for the win. I have this on my list. And, as you point out, I have time to buy it. But bumper to bumper for that long is a no brainer !

Yes, back to pricing discussions. Anyone have a deposit on a truck coming in or a new truck they are considering flipping? There could be as much as $4K in it for them !
