    Good Morning!
The guy who own bike shop where i got my bike from - he said it is ruined and contaimined. How is that possible?

So I do need new brake rotors (front and rear). I placed order from Jenson USA - https://www.jensonusa.com/Shimano-XT-SM-RT86-6-Bolt-Ice-Tech-Rotor-1-7

Question is how do i get the factory Shimano SLX rotors off the wheels?

Looks like you have a centerlock rotor. You’ll need a tool, looks like the external version which is a bottom bracket tool . The rotors you linked won’t work, you’ll need centerlock rotors or adapters.

I am looking for adapters as well. Hopefully, Performance Bike store has the adapters too. Maybe this? - https://www.jensonusa.com/DT-Swiss-Center-Lock-6-BOLT-Disc-Adaptor

I ordered two new tires to replace the tires i have.

Contamination happens easier than you may think. Excess degreasing of your cassette, excess lube from your chain, laying it down somehwere oily, etc..

I battled that issue for months

Also out of curiosity, you took it to the shop - he troubleshot the problem for you then you left and are trying to DIY?

In theory you could but that one says road only and is limited to 160mm rotor which it looks like you have.

Truff. I’ve was thinking about adding some 220 grit sand paper and isopropyl alcohol to my truck tool kit. That way I can quickly and easily clean up brake pads/rotors both pre and post ride.

On an overall bike care and cleaning note, I’ve been using dawn dish detergent as my primary cleaning agent for bike washes. So far I haven’t noticed any negative side affects, and it’s cheap/readily available.

I keep a couple of the alcohol wipes in the first aid kit that I keep in my pack. Clean glasses, brake rotor, sanitize a cut or scrape, etc.

I think back to when i was cleaning my bike. I used the Sonax Power Wheel cleaner and use it on the chains and cassette, and the brakes. Maybe it damaged the brakes.

However, Whats the best way to clean the chain and cassette? How much oil do you apply on the chains?

    Something isn't right here...

You don't need new rotors if they're contaminated, you need new pads. Rotors are simple to clean, use isopropyl alcohol 90% or higher. Douse them good, wipe clean with a new cloth/rag. Pads on the other hand, will soak up any grease/oil like a sponge and cannot be cleaned.
Replace the pads, not the rotors. Unless your rotors are thinner than recommended spec.

Plus, even contaminated pads won't make your whole bike feel "wobbly," just give you very little braking power. Front end wobble usually comes from loose headsets, stems, or front thru-axles.

Yep that Sonax wash is probably what did your brakes in. In general don’t use car cleaners on your bike at all. Like others have said you probably don’t need new rotors.

The wobbly feeling can come from loose brake mount bolts as well. It usually feels like a front to back wobble than side to side movement.

There was a guy who pedaled his e-bike (clearly in high/boost mode) to the top of a well known steep climb around here, blazing past everyone, and had the balls to say "I can't believe I made it!" at the top. It's the only time in my MTB career I've heard actual boos coming from the crowd.
