Yeah, it won't be bad. Don't need the shop space, really. We can just lift it and slide it back a few inches, then lift it up and put it back. It's just that the height of the bed is slightly lower across the cab than down the rails. Might just add some weatherstripping on the shell instead.

Are those things really worth the $ for stopping water to get inside the bed?

I was just planning to hit mine sooner or later with a tube of silicone......

I left it out in the rain the other day. Moderate rain for about an hour. There was only a little drop on the wheel arch. Nothing came in from the area near the cab that I described above.

Yesterday, I took a hose out and soaked one area at a time, spraying, pouring, misting, etc. to find any leaks. The one I got in the rainstorm was from the windoor channels filling up and seeping a bit. One inch of a little rubber will fix that so that the water coming down the channel gets dumped out before getting to the bottom of the channel. Frankly, tightening the latches might be enough.

With the hose, I was able to create a scenario that lets water in the gap between the cap and the bed in the corners closest to the cab. I don't know how likely it is that water will actually get there in the rain given how shrouded that area is, but about a 2" piece of thicker weather stripping will lift the line of the bed up just enough to compensate and make it a non issue.

talking about Kenny’s post, you can buy a still or do some home brew. Technically you’re just buying ingredients and tools, not alcohol.

I agree to a point but money gives some peace of mind. I know if I’ve got some set back life is a lot less stressful for the any incident that may occur. Plus I’ve never seen a unhappy person at their dream vacation spot or investing in positive experiences so to hell with things give me some stories to share.

Sounds good. I was thinking that you were talking about the OEM Toyota rubber plugs that I saw on one of the camper shell threads here that were on the pricey side for what they were. I need to try something similar like your water test with mine!

I can't speak to Turd Gen bed design but the 2nd Gen has a .57562 gap on the front end of the bed between the side rails. I know that ARB (formerly owned cap) and current Snugtop have a "donkey dick" gasket that gets RTV'd in to fill the void.

If that really could happen I would share it with you Guy's and Gals. That kind of money could make us all real happy.
