squirrels made a nest over passenger side wheel well. My air-conditioning stopped working light was flashing. I popped the hood and found this. Something also leaking from that area. Looks like water but its not water. I was thinking freon. I noticed a unit were the nest was. It has several lines going to it. Any ideas before I go to the shop?

How long did you leave the truck sitting ? those lines are from your ABS brake unit.

The truck was only sitting for a day at the most. It has only been driven about 8 miles a day for the past week. My air-conditioning was working fine the other day. Im assuming it has something to do with the squirrels

I would call your local animal control and have them give you advice on what to do. There might be local regulations where you can't disturb them.

This. Squirrels might be one of those animals where human scent makes the mother abandon them. Call animal control and have someone come help.

I’d be placing the squirrels somewhere other than my truck.
I’m not going to wait around for an “ok”, while they eat the hell out of my truck.
Let them get to the knock sensors and see how much fun you have then.

Squirrels won't abandon their babies for human scent.

Take the nest out and place it up high in a bush away from predators ( Cats ) and the mother will come get them.

Thanks for all the help. I will be moving the nest to a nearby safe location near my truck. Hopefully the mother takes care of the babies. I'll report back when my air-conditioning is fixed. Thanks again for the help

The nest was made and the babies were born all in one day? i mean the leaves are still green lol Pretty impressive there. I've never seen a squirrel build a nest anywhere other than way up in a tree.

Dear god. The squirrels in my yard are target practice.. multiple times chewing into the eaves of my house and I was spending an extra $50 a month on chicken feed because the fat bastards sneak into the coop during the day and my chickens are total push-overs and don't do anything to stop em:rofl: (I've fortified the wire small enough where they cant get in anymore until they chew through again)
As far as babies go though, soft spot. Call animal control or put the nest up where mom can come get them.

I also am impressed. Its possible the nest was a couple days old. My truck stays parked all day from early morning till evening. The babies were in a secure place. They may have been traveling with me at night time

I am happy to report back that I managed to fix my air-conditioning problem. The squirrel did manage to chew through a couple wires. I was able to splice them back together and problem solved. I noticed the two wires coming from my master brake cylinder were chewed in half and hanging. I peeled back the covering to the main wiring and there was a green wire that I assume was the air-conditioning wire. It also was chewed. Luckily only 3 wires total had to be repaired. Hopefully the animals leave me alone.
