Yikes dude you may want to change your fluid out as I think the light comes on at like 315 F or something ridiculous. Do you have the CSF rad? My temps will get warm with the csf rad and the stock towing package cooler (for the tranny, 220-240F ish) on offroad trips if it's hot and steep inclines with the AC on. Keeping it in 1st gear often helps.

Awesome, now the fun begins ;)

Also maybe some of you know the answer to this....I’ve seen where it says the long tubes are incompatible with shock tower gussets. Does that mean you can’t get them installed with the gussets on.....or does that mean that I won’t be able to get them off now that I’ve welded my gussets out? Hmmmm

Pretty sure its just the URD long tubes that don't fit with shock tower gussets. I have gussets and my JBA long tubes went in fine.

Not towing and a long steep Offroad hill in 4x4 nothing different except the fam was with me. I do have a CSF rad. This was the transmission temp light. Yah scared me a bit. I sat for 5 min or so and it went away then kept it more in 4LO for a bunch of the trip when I could.

All fluids are fresh except trans and 69k miles or so.

Do a trans fluid dump and fill. Repeat 3x. Then check level. Maybe you are low on trans oil?

Gearcruncher is the resident tranny expert and some good points here, definitely sounds like fluid is cooked - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/trans-overheated.428722/ - theres a relatively drop in cooler listed on second page in thread. Not sure on quality of that one but Probably other options available too.

Not sure if valve body upgrades would have helped unless it got hung up in between gears. Upgraded torque converter maybe?

Fully Upgraded transmission time? you've got everything else and it's on sale... https://spprecision.com/products/a750e-transmission-sale.html

Valve body upgrade may had helped some, then again, it has to make me wonder the most obvious question here which has not been asked.... We you going up a hill in 4th or were you going up a hill in 5th while boosting @nudavinci64 ?? If you were going a hill in 5th while boosting all of the heat build up from the boost plus your natural heat build up from the engine and the tranny probably didn't help your cause any.

It also makes me wonder what your ECT was when the AT light came on.

You may want to switch over to a water wetter and water mix. They have helped my engine shed heat significantly better than the OE coolant and while temps may looks hotter that is because the "coolant mix" is allowing for better heat shedding over the OE stuff.

I am sure some boost was happening but it was a slow drive up a hill nothing quick or harsh by any means. Unless tranny fluid is bad the coolant is brand new.

This was a off road hill and prob going less than 20 mph at best. i tried to check some temps but wasnt able to get anything ready. I had to reset a few thing so my dashboards from my reader were not setup correctly. Light went away after a few minutes never came back but I do chalk it up tot he Hill thats all i can think of.

If you are low that will definitely do it. Have you ever done a flush before or have you ever done a service? These trucks are sensitive and 2.5 quarts alone will make it slip notably from 1st to 2nd gear. 1 quart will make the AT light come on off-road for sure and .5 quarts will probably not be tolerant to a whole lot of heat build up before triggering that light on a particularly hot day. Fluid level is critical, especially when putting it up to the rigors of wheeling.

If you are not comfortable with doing your valve body, just drop it and either send it or bring it over to me. I'd do it for you just like I did for @GT7 his ended up just fine and he was happy with it. Dropping it presents it's it's own set of unique challenges though. There is a video on how to drop it. I'm not sure if I've posted it, if I have not I'll post it up for you.

I've been fighting excess heat on my truck since the day I installed the supercharger. I've drained, refilled, and flushed the transmission a couple times, changed drive habits, and added a small B&M cooler and pusher fan.

Nothing really helped substantially until I added the big CSF oil cooler for the trans and bypassed the main radiator with a thermostat. @nudavinci64 if you continue having issues, look into it.

Since we are on the topic of tranny fluid temps and whatnot, time to show me your aftermarket tranny cooler setups boys. I want to swap my cooler out and I want to do it in a non invasive way where a ton of drilling is involved.

Post 'em up and give me as much info about what you got as you can including the part numbers.

    Thanks in advance!

Thanks guys! I had looked into the fluid swap as I was looking into the valve body job. The fluid change looks easy enough. It was more about losing parts when dropping the valve body.

@zscott def agree with you on temps. I have noticed how much extremely hotter the engine is when opening up the engine bay then before the S/C was added. With the added weight of the truck I was thinking of doing a better setup on the tranny cooler since the stock one may not be up to the task. This one I was in was lower gear held in low boost but looks to be enough to cause it to push over.

@12TRDTacoma as far as I know it has never had a tranny service/fluid change. I was going on that I did not have to do it until 100k or so, or get to it with a valve body job. How many of you have ran into low transmission fluid levels on the 2nd gen? Does it burn fluid similar to oil?

I have seen some of the videos at some point on the process and how @mightytacoman did his. Biggest hesitation is lose some of the parts/what not. =)
