Well yea, with something with 300+hp it makes sense. A regular boring ass 4.0, ugh.

Put the paddles to the side for a minute and look at the sequential shift part of it. The 2nd gen tacoma got screwed on the S mode feature. Why did the tundra and the 4runner, which also used the same automatic transmission and for a few years the tundra also got the 4.0 v6, get S mode and the Tacoma even got left behind when the 4runner and FJ got the updated dual VVTI 4.0. the fricken FJ had more feature refinements in its 7yr run of production than the Tacoma did, and they sold 3x many Tacomas than FJC's when it was released in 2007. If I hadn't have gotten the steering wheel with paddle shifters, which was somewhat a mistake, I'd still be trying to add the S mode feature to the shifter on the Tacoma like the 4runner and Tundra, but only because I replaced my Tacoma transmission with one from a 2012 4runner, so I know the transmission supports that feature but my ECU has no idea and afaict it just sees it as a normal a750. So the paddles and the sequential shifting rabbit hole I'm chasing all pretty much revolve around the transmission being capable.

Back to the paddles, I won't be devastated if I can't make them functional since I still got a newer steering wheel and it's just something different. When I bought the steering wheel I either glanced right over the part that mentioned the paddle shifters or just wasn't paying attention at all. I was more just wanting a newer steering wheel since the leather on mine was peeling and falling apart. For $50, it was the price that I liked, vs $150+ for a 2012+ tundra/4runner/Tacoma steering wheel and nothing to do with the possibility of having paddle shifters in a Tacoma.

I also can't be too mad at Toyota for not refining the Tacoma over that time, as they say if it ain't broke don't fix it, and Toyota was having no problem selling 150k+ Tacomas a year just the way they were. The FJC only sold 56k units in 2007.

Even if this doesn't work out for the Tacoma, I'm contemplating an IS350 paddle shifter wheel for my LS400, and this kit.

Paddle shifters could activate oil slick and smoke screen.

Steering wheel already has plenty of unused button blanks. I've thought about all the possible uses. I want a rear facing horn. That'd surprise the shit put of people

i agree. but i:hattip:to @bobsuruncle for creativity and to take on said project. i worked for months to integrate stock toyota heated seat switches to an aftermarket heated seat system. total pita but i was really happy to get it done. to my knowledge im the only one to do it.

In case any of y'all needed a YouTube rabbit hole to go down, this dude tests EVERYTHING in very unbiased ways. And if you wanted to know how good JB Weld really is, turns out, it's incredible.

I hope you figure it out! I’ll follow closely. I’ve been considering swapping in the 05/06 Tundra column shifter (tame compared to your undertaking) so I could can the whole center console and make a six seater Taco

Hey kind of on the same thread as the epoxy thing, I need to attach a bracket for my snorkel but don't have a rivet gun. I DO have a roll of VHB but can't get it to stick to my paint. Two questions:

    A) Am I an idiot for using VHB in this application
    B) Why wont it stick to my A pillar

It should definitely stick to your paint. Maybe take some 50/50 rubbing alcohol/water solution to the a-pillar to strip any wax/sealant on there and apply the tape. Issue might be whatever you're attaching it to. How big is the gap between the a-pillar and the snorkel? Might add a piece of foam between the snorkel and tape and sandwich it between the two.

The gap is small and its attaching directly to a metal bracket painted black. I'll bet the issue is surface prep, I haven't waxed my truck since I've owned it so I assumed it wouldn't be an issue

Yeah, try washing it down and the rubbing alcohol solution will strip any oils off the paint. I used that same tape to remount badges and also CF roof/trunk spoilers with no problem.
