This morning on my way home from the gym i encountered a piece of scrap metal near a junk yard in the road. Being dark and seeing it too late, decided not to swerve and just run the damn thing over--thought to myself "what the hell--its a truck right?" Pull in my driveway at 6am only to hear a hissing noise from the front right tire. Damn well my next thought was
    1. Do i swap the spare on and deal with it after work orrrrrr
    2. Redneck methods so i can go inside shower and have my morning coffee before work

So i grab a nail and jam it in the tire ( I could see the puncture and feel it leaking) and the tire went from a hiss to a subtle whistle--so i grab some rubber gorilla tape and smother the leak and viola! We're fixed---for now. Yes, i know its only Thursday

    What would you have done?

I would have pulled my tire repair kit out of the back seat cubby and patched/plugged her up.

I would have tossed my spare on then given one of our tech apprentices $5 to fix my flat the next day at work.

Plugged it right there and aired it back up, is what I would have done. I’m a redneck too.

I would've slapped some flex seal on it.

    1. I try not to run over stuff.
    2. I would have pulled my tire repair kit out and plugged it.

I’ve seen (possibly done) way crazier repair jobs during my ranch days. It’d be a blisteringly hot Texas afternoon, hay had been cut the day before, teddered the next morning, and with everyone waiting to jump into balers and start “making hay” the rake would self destruct. One time we created what could only be described as a UFO with 3 tentacles being dragged cock-eyed across a field. It even raked a little bit.

You’ve got repair how you can, and do your best not to injure yourself or others.

Was the hole in the bottom? The sidewalls are Kevlar reinforced but Kevlar is not indestructible.

I think he sort of made his own? Stab the tire with a nail, then tape over the hole like it’s the International Space Station. If it’s good enough for space it’s gotta be good enough for holding air pressure on a driveway.

I just hope today wasn’t Leg Day, OP. Too much irony.
