Power antenna to non power antenna

    Nope, just unplug the power wire to the antenna and the bolt holding the antenna base.
    There might be a power switch off the stereo Or built into the stereo depending

    What’s wrong with the one you have?

    OME, SPC UCA, ARB w/warn 10K winch, TG Rock Defense Rear, Marlin Clutch, Custom hi clearance under bed spare mount. 285/75/16. A ton of repairs done and a list up to come modifications.
    I have a good power motor lying around here somewhere.

    I swamped to manual because it would not fit with the snorkle kit.

    You will need the whole manual assembly. Including the grommet in the fender and the ornament nut. they are a different size from the power.

    The same bolt mounts the bottom side behind the plastic wheel well, but soak it with some penetrating oil in advance to loosen it up.
    I just unplugged the power wire wrapped it up and left it there.
    The hardest part was fishing the the coaxial cable . pop the glove box open, take the passenger side kick plate off and the radio bezel so you can run the new cable and plug it in behind the radio.

    New its crazy expensive and used I had a difficult time finding what I needed. It turns out when people pull the fenders off they just cut the cable or tear it all up.

    I just bought a OEM Power antenna and will install it in a week or so,
    My truck DID NOT have one original.

    I have a newer Alpine with the power antenna power cord.

    Do you just run that power wire to the power antenna and it knows when to stop when it goes
    up and down or it needs a relay?

    The blue wire from your Alpine is only the trigger wire. You'll still need to power the new antenna directly from the battery, so you'll have to run power to it. No relay is necessary, there are limit switches built into the power antenna itself when it reaches it's full travel in both directions.

    I’m FINALLY getting around to installing this OEM antenna.

    The 2 OEM wires on the antenna are,

    1) green with a red strip
    2) solid green

    The radio trigger wire is blue I think.

    How do you wire this setup?

    I would think so, if you have an aftermarket deck, it gets wired right into the OEM harness with an adapter just like the rest of the connections. I had an OEM stereo so I needed it. There should be an 8 pin connector hanging out in space near the stereo. Here’s the Toyota wiring diagram for the power antenna

    Is there not an easier way to do this rather than trying to deal with 8 pins in a relay box when using
    an aftermarket radio with the power trigger wire

    The OEM antenna HAS to have a relay TO work?

    i was told if the antenna motor goes OUT that most of the dash has to be pulled out to fix it! :annoyed:

    i will have to tell the toyota mechanic guy that told me that about that,
    i recall he told me the line that connects the motor to the headunit has to be fed in thru the firewall / fender or someplace like that, he was sounding like its extremely involving job to replace the motor!

    no quick connect / disconnect in the fender area

    yes, I got one from a 96 SR5 Tacoma a guy was parting out in Colorado Springs. Once you get the relay, and hook up the trigger wire, the power antenna will work. Additionally I started thinking about it this morning, my wife’s 4Runner has an aftermarket deck with a power antenna, and all the OEM parts are there.

    EDIT- part number for the antenna relay is 85914-04010, it’s discontinued. So you’ll have to find someone parting out a SR5/Limited 95-00
