    Hi everyone,

New here... I just purchased a 2008 stock prerunner 2wd extended cab. 60k miles for $8,000 (didn't think I could pass it up).

I live in the front range here in CO and do my fair share of mtn biking, climbing, backcountry skiing etc. surprise surprise! Mostly car camping but some dispersed camping on BLM land. My boyfriend has a wrangler with BFG T/A K02's and upgraded fox suspension so I don't need to do any real off-roading with the truck.

My main goal for the truck is to build out a bed platform throw a topper on it and make it somewhat capable of getting to dispersed camping areas.

My first thought was to upgrade the tires and possibly throw a lift on it. Was thinking of getting the same BFG's but wanted to consult the wise patrons of this site first. Any rec's on tires or my strategy in general? T/A K02's seem pricing but I figure you get what you pay for.

    Thanks in advance folks!

Take a look at Falken Wildpeak A/T tires.

how much money are you willing to spend on new tires, this usually will dictate what brand and level of performance. if you have a daily driver with occasional offroad excursions and money is no object MICHELIN AT2 or MICHELIN Defender tires are the premium tire.

Michelins are a good choice. Same with the Falkens. I'd lean towards more aggressive because you live in CO and have 2WD.

I'd take Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs because of that. Lots of siping for snow and rain. Deep tread for the occasional mud while camping. I got mine for $108 a piece when they went on sale.

I pretty much do the same type of stuff as you and they've never let me down.

they are an awesome tire. Get the SL load rating and you won’t wreck your fuel economy

I live down in the SW part of Colorado and I have had rocks tear a 4 ply tire belt, twice. I will not get a tire that is not “D” or “E” rated tire. I run Cooper ST Maxx.

Thanks everyone, good stuff! I don't want to spend more than $800 on tires, but could probably be persuaded with a good argument. Falken Wildpeak A/T and Goodyear Wrangler TR AT look great, The Michelin LTX A/T2 seem more pricey. I've got some things to think about!
