From what what people have said about double shearing the UCA, it's a PITA.

Keith makes awesome stuff. I'm sure that would no doubt be better than nothing.
I just like the idea of additionally strengthening the sides and tying it into the top of the tower

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Nope... they were 12s. I already sold em.

And ordered 10s to arrive with the front shocks :gossip:

Those 12s were going to be way too much work, with little reward. They might have been worth it, if I went with 63s, but I ended up going with All Pro Expos... so I would have done all the work and still not gotten all the travel out of the 12s anyway.

Coil bucket gussets are a huge pain in the ass to install. Then they cause a constant problem with poly bushings. Wish I had went with heimed uppers originally.

+1 to PITA, not to mention anything that comes from TC never lines up right. @eimkeith changed the game on what it meant to get quality fitting fabricated parts IMO.

Why do you say they cause issues with the poly bushings Brett?

FWIW this is on 700's with almost no preload. I am thinking about adding a little.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tH_8sa-v1ug

    They definitely compress just fine.

Yeah exactly. There's no getting around that the coil bucket is pretty thin metal and a heavy truck doing a lloooooottttt of hard dirt miles. Somethings gotta give.

Because you can't get grease in between the gusset and the side of the bushing without taking the whole arm off.

Which reminds me, I really should have put zerks on the Solo LCAs before I installed them. My front suspension makes a lot of noise right now.

One of my biggest complaints with them is no zerks. Gonna fix that now though.

Nice, thanks! I'll see if I can track them down. That's actually just a few hours away for me. (I used to work in Ithaca before Covid19 locked everything down) I live about an hour north or so from there.
I think your truck's looking pretty decent btw!

There are a couple of other factors regarding coil bucket and LCA damage that have not been mentioned here yet. One is, all of the documented failures of coil buckets have been on the passenger side bucket. There must be clues here as to what is happening, but so far the reasons for this are not obvious.

The second item is shock extended length when compared to the LCAs ability to extend further than the shock is capable of. Limit straps should help to mitigate this issue as well as the cracking that is occurring at the LCAs lower shock mounting tabs.
