2017 remote start?

Hey guys and gals! So i bought a pre-owend 2017 trd offroad last month and obviously love it!! How ever i noticed one time when i went to lock it from the key fob, i was spaming the lock button and as im walking away the truck started up. Opon inspection after 3 clicks from the key fob to lock it. It will start the truck up. Im having a hard time finding any info on factory remote starts for this truck. Anyone have any insite into this? Maybe a after market thing?

 

Yeah it’s a Fortin remote start all plug and play...and aftermarket most popular. Look for a black box under the dash on the driver’s side or drivers side kick panel.

Anyone know of a way to set this up so that the door opening wont kill it? seems counter intuitive to have it shut off when you open the door to get in, only to start it right back up.

Would be a nice kit otherwise.

 

Can't get around it and it is stupid.

 

Luckily the lower trims with a Key don't suffer from this with an aftermarket....at least not in 2016

 

I have a 2016 Taco TRD Sport with push button start. I just installed a StartX remote start and was told when any door is opened the vehicle will shut off. Tested with driver door and yup shuts down. Two hours later tested it again and when the driver door is opened it stays running. Holy crap.....it does shut off when the break pedal is depressed. Tested again with a rear door opened the truck shuts off.

Spoke with StartX and they tell me it’s a Toyota thing. Or a bad driver door switch.

Talked with a local Toyota dealer and was asked if the driver door is opened does the small display show the door open - nope. Dealer says could be a bad door switch or the remote start is inter fearing with the driver door switch. Dealer says the door should shut down the truck - at least the break pedal does shut it down.

It’s weird as it seems Everyone here seems to have to opposite issue that the driver door shuts the truck off. I’d prefer the door shut it down.

Any thoughts on what’s happening as I said most here say once door it open truck shuts off mine does the opposite?
