6500 miles on my Truck and already showing rust on top of the rear shocks

Truck is one year old never was in the water besides the car wash or spend time around ocean mist remember we got a dry heat here in Arizona never took the truck out crossing rivers. On my rear shocks the tip chrome shinny part where the nuts bolts on to I show already rust building up. If I use some fine grid sandpaper it comes right off of course. Is this another sign that Toyota uses cheap a$$ parts somebody else got the same problem should I raise hell at the Dealer and demand a new Truck? Any thoughts? It just pisses me off every time I walk out to my truck I can see the rust ( you know how the small stuff bothers you Finally got my 1st scratch on the passenger door about 5 inches long all the way down to the primer looks like something hit me on the road that one doesn,t bother me)

 

This is unacceptable, get a lawyer and pursue a lemon law..

 

Mine is like that to. Nut came right off during shock replacement. Don't worry about it, it's a truck. If you actually use it on trails and mud there will be much more rust to be had take it to Flagstaff and get it on some hills. FWIW my super has a 2015 ford f150 STX and it is in much worse shape in terms of corrosion and rust. And it's a street truck. Never goes offroad or in the mountains. Sounds like you're trying to convince yourself and you're right, don't sweat the small stuff. Are you going to be personally wrenching on that spot soon?

 

That would be a way of doing it .I was think of flying Fat Tony over to Japan and have a word with them at HQ probably would be cheaper then a lawyer and get better results.

 

Spray 'em with the rust inhibitor of your choice. They're bare steel, so they're gonna rust. I hit mine up a few times a year, but I'm also in the rust belt.
Do NOT... I repeat... do NOT crawl under your truck.

Thinking about changing over to Bilsteins here pretty soon so yes it is not a big deal in a way but darn it my Fiat had less rust after 5 years on the shocks.

 

you should see the fiats here with snow and salt. If it bothers you that much you can buy some painted hardware, or remove them/sandblast and paint yourself. Enjoy your truck and get those Billies on! Fuck OCD.

 

I was fine in my younger days nothing bothered me but boy over the last few years that OCD is killing me. G/F tells me I need a hobby she also called me cheap and anti social so maybe she is right on the"GET A HOBBY DUDE" I have to admit I always have been a bit anal about my cars even when I was a kid when I played with Matchbox

 

Metal oxidizes even in Arizona on going preventive maintenance is your responsibility not Toyota cheap parts not at all...more like a cheap owner in this case.
