AC COOLING

Blowing low volume of air through vents. Blower motor is good. Actuators good. New evaporator new still low volume. Any suggestions out there.

 

What is "low volume of air"?

 

Check your cabin filter to make sure it's not clogged. Check your resistor plug/ resistor.

 

The resistor is fairly new was put in last year. Brand new cabin air filter.

 

The plug for the resistor is know to have issues.
Unplug it and look at the connector for an signs of heat damage or melting.

 

Also look at the rear of your HVAC panel. It is known to burn the connections back there.

 

Does it start off running normal then slow down after a bit of time?

Or is it low all the time?

Let me give you the full story. Last month I encountered this lack of air coming from the vents. If you place a paper tissue in front of any of the vents it hardly moves it. The heat and AC work but only a low volume comes out the vent. I ripped the dash apart to replace the evaporator. On the work bench I power up the HVAC unit to check if it was working properly. Everything was running smoothly on the bench, all 3 actuators opened and closed the blends doors, as they should. The blower fan work on all setting, with new cabin filter installed. High volume of air coming from the vents, everything seems fine.When I put the HVAC back in the truck, with all plugs and switches connected I still have the same low air flow coming from the vents. I really need your help and any suggestions.

 

Does it do it on Recirculate as well?

 

No it run as it should. As you increase the speed setting on the switch the fan does the same, the is no slowing down on fan speed.

 

Ok, but to be sure I'll ask again, since you don't specifically say...........

Out of curiosity, why did you go after the evaporator replacement? Did you detect a loss of refrigerant at that location?

 

Are you saying the fan speed is the same no matter what position the speed switch is in?

 

Re circulation works fine you can see the actuators move and the fresh air door move.

 

I thought the evaporator wad bad.

 

The fan speed moves in tandem with the setting of the switch

 

Because of air flow?

And still, can you answer the question? Trying to help here.....

 

Is it the same low volume from all vents?
I ask this because it sounds like there is a restriction some where.

 

There was no loss of refrigerant as a matter of fact the evaporator was in very good condition, little or no dust.
