I have recently purchased a 2018 Tacoma trd sport and I would really like to get a lift and but I do not want to ruin the performance of my vehicle. I love the look of a 3/2 lift and that would be my end goal unless that path is very problematic, then I would be ok with something less like a 2.5/1.5 lift. Looking online it seems that most suspension lifts are maximum 2-2.5 front and 1-1.5 rear unless you go for something like kings which are out of my price range. I like to do some off-roading on the weekends and it seems like 5100’s are a very popular choice. I’ve heard that setting the 5100’s for the highest lift gives a very unpleasant ride so would it be a good idea to get 5100’s in the front set for a 1” lift then a strut spacer that provides 2” of lift for a total of a 3” front lift? I’ve heard that spacers are frowned upon but since it is not that large I was thinking it wouldn’t be very problematic and I wouldn’t need to get new UCA at that point. I also do not plan on getting a cheaply made spacer. In the rear it seems very common to get an AAL but I do not plan on towing so I was planning on getting 5100’s and setting them to 1” or 0 and using a block spacer to achieve a 2” rear lift.
If you guys could please give me some advice or refer me to a post that would be greatly appreciated!

5th setting 1.5” AAL rear lift. No difference from 4th to 5th. Light trails camping work etc. Ride is Fine for me. I’m not a picky fuck. Look into 6112’s or eibach. Also “ No don’t not use spacers “.
    Good luck

5100’s with an OME 886 spring and an add a leaf with fox 2.0’s is what I run the ride is actually decent and gives you a 3/2 lift

When getting a rear shock and an AAL do you have to match the lift each of them give? Like say the shock calls for a 2” lift, do you have to get leafs that also provide a 2” lift to achieve a 2” total rear lift?

Or would this provide a 4” lift?

Only the leaf spring provides lift for the rear. But the shock needs to match the range of motion, hence shocks spec'ed for a 2" lift.

what tire size are you running on those stock wheels? I’m planning on doing the same suspension lift soon and as of now my plan was to run 255/85/16s. Thanks!

Sure. It's been a good setup. The Maxx are really good ATs, and I have run quite a few. I'll buy again unless the make the STT Pro in 255s. You may sit a touch higher if you don't have weight. I have a winch, armor and sliders, and a rear bumper on.

So the rear shocks don’t provide lift thr only way to lift is with a block or add a leaf

    Or a new leaf pack.
Shocks dampen the bumps, spring lift (coils and leaf springs)

Shocks don't provide any lift. That has to come from a spring or spacer block.
