That's a horrible idea. What time?
I have the MESO red for maps and dome. Plenty of light, and I can read most things if I need to. I can also still see outside the truck without vision impairment. I do keep a small LED pocket flashlight clipped to the visor if I need or want white light. It also has a red function.

always been a fan of this build . Watch your thread. It’s a nice build. Makes me want to go 35’s because my truck is not just my toy so 37’s attempt is out of the picture haha

I'm not sure I knew such a thing existed! I don't need stiffness, though, I just like that it's a flat, smooth surface. I stand my paramotor on the tailgate and the ridged surface makes it a pain in the ass when the two rear feet on the motor don't sit on the raised ridges. Having a flat plate there instead would be preferable. I'll have to bookmark that!

I'm still waiting on replacement plates here in California. When I bought the new used 2016 in March, I decided that the originals Yosemites I got in '92 were too faded (they've only been on two other Tacomas) and I ordered a new set. Unfortunately Folsom is shut down. Maybe sometime in the fall...or maybe I'll get digital ones.

Realized one of the two solar panels wasn’t charging. After a bit of back and forth trying to figure it out with the with Overland Solar they sent me a new panel. They said this was their first failure. They’re a great small company based out of Boise, ID
    [IMG]

Why me...that’s the bad news but the good news is that I’ve learned a lot about my solar/lithium battery/charge controller system. It looks like the installer that I hired to build my camper setup didn’t support the semi flexible panels and they bent to much possibly causing the failure. They also didn’t install VHB tape between the bolts holding the panels down onto the aluminum Z metal. Z metal is mounted on Yakima roof rack tracks installed at the Four Wheel Camper factory
    [IMG]

So now’s my chance to do it right. I didn’t want to have the panels bonded directly to the camper roof for several reasons, 1) panels are more efficient when cooler, 2) they’re a lot easier to take off, 3) the air gap keeps the camper cooler as well.

Here I’m mounting the Z metal with the VHB tape onthe upside down panel. I also changed the wiring from being soldered to using MC 4 connectors; they’re foolproof
    [IMG]

The nice thing about the Overland Solar panels are they are designed and built to be mounted directly on a sailboat’s roof and walked on! Not many panels can do that they’re built tough and have a grippy surface similar to a golf ball; wouldn’t want to slide off and see your boat keep sailing

Here’s the specs, this is the underside
    [IMG]

At the truck’s current location, from 6 pm until 9 am, the panels are shaded and the battery provides camper power and typically uses about 22 amp-hours or 300 watts of electricity. In 2 1/2 hours (9:00 am to 11:30) of sun, the battery is fully charged. So I’m fully self-sufficient and don’t have to run the truck to keep the camper battery charged

installed @mattgecko underside hood lights. Fairly straight forward install and SUPER bright:

    20200709_234434.jpg

Also got a ceramic front windshield laminate film and dark stripe. So we'll see if this laminate film will help reduce the heat (and glare) in the coming weeks in the Mississippi summer:

The ceramic laminate has a slight tint to it, but you can barely tell.

We are on 16 years, 3 kids, joint account the entire time. We never had any financial fights until about 2 years ago when we decided to pay off all of our debt. That required a budget and some difficult talks about money, future, and wants vs needs. Rocky at first. It has worked out amazingly. You really don't now how much money you make until you get to keep it. And we also have a set amount, where anything over requires a discussion.

    ..and so it begins.
    baby steps.

    AVS deflectors, much improvement.
    I like windows down..
Bed cover..nothing special and I dont plan on using it for valuable items. Gator Tri-fold over the soft roll up style.

Sadly, I bought Yakima Baselines/Clips and attempted to use my old round bars. I haul a Native U12.

$300, was cheapest way, and Yakima is great stuff that I've had no issues with, ever.

Yea, budgeting matters in this house.

Have to say fitment a bit tricky and took a while. Only attempted front bar, got tired of trying to justify the gaps I just couldn't seem to get rid of, unless it was tightened down, which I wasn't going to push it.

I also found a few comments after the fact regarding potential paint damage. I can see how that's possible, especially on a long trip. I get there are ways of protecting your ride.. but it just didn't sit well with me.

Build quality is Yakima, good stuff, but for the chunk of change I just committed to, the last thing I want out of the gate is paint damage or worse.

Really bummed..but things work a certain way for me, for a reason..I just don't see it at the time.
    Time and time again.
    Count your blessings.

Decided on a Rola #59799, ordering today.
Almost bought the one for sale on TW, but it's a local only and the math doesn't work.

Stay safe, and have a great day.

We moved to North Carolina a little over a year ago and I FINALLY found a place that could refill my PowerTank. Big time thanks to Chris at New Bern Fire Extinguisher for not only filling it but putting the flow regulator back on the correct way after the guys I used to deal with in NJ seem to do it right after they pressure tested it. He also straightened out the handle for me. Now its just a matter of finding the right place to mount it.

They're color coded by rating so that wouldn't be such a good idea. :bananadead:
