In an insulated slab , yes . The thermal mass of the concrete stores heat efficiently .

Also , you need to look at the tubing as extended storage of the hot water instead of the system consuming hot water . The loop is closed so its always the same water in the system . Once the water has travelled through the tubing , it returns to the tank or boiler not as cold water but as water that is a few degrees colder than it left , so you aren't reheating cold water but "topping up" hot water by a few degrees each time the thermostat calls for heat and the water pumps through the system.

Do you get enough sun to add a solar pre-heater?

Some people were using a residential gas water heater with a grundfos pump set at 120 degF.

Which are you using? We’ve been studying cost of propane vs electric resistance vs air source heat pump and all of our real world test houses have shown the ASHP as more efficient and lower cost than your alternatives. This is in Minnesota and we were mainly studying forced air residential units with electric resistance backups for the real cold days, but the math still applies.

    I'm going electric

I would go air to water heat pump but up front cost is way too much for a shop . We installed one for whole home radiant on a house I built a couple years ago though

Didn't think you would have permitted a shop.

Are you leaving that storage area dirt or are you going to pour a slab in there later?

I think #2 and #4 column seats are crooked :anonymous:

    Now the fun begins.

Yesterday I drilled and bolted down my sill plates , today I went and selected and picked up / dropped off all my framing lumber for the walls

    10's , 12's , 14's and 16's of Fir 2x6

The lumber market at least here is going nuts , prices are going crazy and availability of some material is sparse

I worked with my regular lumber supplier and pre-purchased my 2x12 rafter material and 1/2" plywood a few months back but now wish I had bought my 2x6 as well but he gave me a 'personal use' price that made it a bit more manageable and as luck would have it his current stock of Fir 2x6 is Select Structural and some MSR 2400
