What is a good shock for 2.5" rear lift? 5100 bilsteins or OME?

A waterproof marine grease is ideal. Just not petroleum based.

I used whatever came in the kit from headstrong. Was real liberal in applying it. It lasted one trip out into canyonlands, it snowed, rained, highs lows temp. After that I have very squeaky leafs. There are places to lube the leafs with a needle grease gun fitting that helps with some squeaks. But my squeak that’s the worst are the pins for the leafs towards the front. I ordered Dobinson greasable pins and am hoping this helps. Also do not tighten you leaf springs onto the truck fully until it’s sitting on the ground. So on the jack stands tighten them enough to hold, sit the truck on the ground and then torque to spec the leaf springs to the truck. This will help the bushings not get twisted up and give you problems. I’m referring to leafs to truck. Not leafs to axle. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Yes, I was told it has an internal hydraulic extension damper instead of a rubber one.

I already have 5125s installed with extended brake lines . I hear the bottom of the 5125 needs a little persuasion getting into the saddle with the Dakar’s installed !

You have to grind metal insert and trim bushing on shock.

Shocks were not an issue for the installer . Everything went into place fine !

Just picked up Bilstein 6112 w/OME 888 and Bilstein 5100 extended w/Dakar HD leaf pack. Nothing on the front, 400lb constant load in the back. Anxious to get it installed. Hope it works out ok, I keep reading about nightmarish experiences with lifts, this is my first lift and tacoma.

    Bilstein 6112 w/888: 6/5 notch setting

    I guess worse case scenario:
Bro lean - get aftermarket bumper or 5/4
Too much rake - remove 3rd leaf
    Squeaky - live with it
    Vibration - ECGS bushing

I think I’ve been reading too much TWand getting paranoid.

I know this is not listed as an option but I went with 12" kings with the BAMF relocation brackets and extended brake lines. I had 24-186728-P - Rear Bilsteins 5100, then I installed the HD-Dakar pack. That set-up turned my shocks into limit straps going over speed bumps. Which was not ideal. What's cool about the 12-inch kings and BAMF kit is if you can find a good cheap welder the whole thing installed is about the same price as the vehicle-specific king shock but with way more travel.

I know this was a while ago, but just want a clear answer if anyone knows. Do the 5160's require the ext. break lines? I thought they had their own extension brackets?
