I have a 4X4 across cab 3rd gen and debating either replacing the seats to the 05” or just buying a 2 Wheel drive Tacoma, I don’t have the money for a 4X4 dc taco but can use this as a trade in for RWD, I’m just stuck and don’t know what to do, I feel like I use my backseat more than I off-road which i off-road very minimal at the moment. Please post your thoughts on what I should do

If the 05 acess cab seats fit people more comphy then I would go with that option tbh but I haven’t seen anyone post anything about how it is

Buy '05 seats and bolt them into the bed to make an acres cab

Sell it all and buy a Civic or Corolla. Save your money until you can swing a DC Tacoma.

Yep so drive the car until you can get a 4x4. Unless you don't need 4wd then obviously get the 2wd.

You're debating giving up your 4x4 for RWD in favor of rear seat room?

I'm not sure the '05 rear seats will make your backseat any better. Unless you're looking for the seats to fold flat.

Ik it sounds crazy but I don’t really use the 4X4, but if the acess cab makes better then I would much rather go with that option

If you buy the 2WD you'll be back here in 6 months asking about upgrading to a 4x4 DC

Not crazy if it works for you.

What do you put in the backseat? My '07 seats fold flat and work great for dogs and other thigns. Never sat in a 3rd gen AC back seat but I suspect it's about the same as the '07 AC

I’ve been j having people in the back and it’s getting into a hassle, and the difference between the 08 and the 09-20 is the 08 is a bench seat and it’s smaller so I would think people would have more leg room etc

With current rates and deals out there, you may be able to get more than you think. Or find a low miles DC 4x4.

What would u consider low mileage because I have been trying to find below 60,000 and one was good but it had medium exhaust rust

That's up to you. Personally I want a vehicle paid off in advance of 100k. If it had 60k, I would want a 3 year note or less assuming maybe 12k or so a year. I have found it tough to buy used though. I feel more comfortable with a 60mo (or 72 if you want) on new as I will have it paid off wall in advance of 100k. The rates are usually low, and now you might be able to find 0%. Used will have higher rates and shorter term, but the price decrease doesn't usually even out, unless you find a really low, like 10k truck. That's just my experience though.

Forget all else, and answer one question

Do you want a 4x4 double cab?

If the answer is yes, don’t trade your truck and accumulate more debt, just wait until you can afford what you want. If you say you want RWD now, you’ll want a 4x4 in a year, trust me. Don’t get more debt, just wait.
