I have been following this Australian guy that moved to Yokon Canada and he took his jeep around the world. I believe his channel on YouTube is called The Road chose me, very informative...worth watching for pointers...maybe you already know of him.

Long story short, we will be shipping around the 1st of November to England as my wife's work has asked her to work part-time the month of October while she trains her replacement.

But our house is scheduled to close and therefore we will be homeless starting in a month. So we're planning on traveling around the Western US until then working remotely part-time. Working in Missoula Montana right now, beautiful country, want to move here afterwards

Outstanding. I've shipped a car/truck back and forth 6 times, and I don't think it was ever easy. Especially going to Sardinia. Germany was not bad. Good luck on the adventure. Please put up a link where we can follow you. I'll subscribe from there.
    Thanks

Thanks Zim. Ah oh, here comes some questions... When was the last time you shipped? Did you put them in a container or RoRo? I was thinking of RoRo (Roll on, Roll off)i do have some gear like the solar panels, front bumper, winch that a determined person could swipe. Is it safe to leave on the harder stuff to remove? Do you have a recommendation as to a expeditor and shipping company? Haven’t checking shipping companies since March to see if they’re still in business

We’d like to leave earlier but only England is accepting people from the US. From what we can find out France is not letting US citizens in at all, even if they done a quarantine in the UK.

My wife isn’t going to be happy because it’s not ready for the general public but our website is www.roguewanderers.com. There you can see us. I do have a build blog there but it’s really just a consolidation of this site. We’re not very active cause the trip is so far away it seems. But we’ll be more active once we hit the road next month, even if it only stories about our travels around the US.

I don't have answers on the companies as I was Military. I think almost everything goes in a container, which is outstanding. It's sealed, and from what I have heard, never screwed with.
They do a detailed inspection at the release point. I never saw where the vehicle went after the inspection. You have to do a list of materials, equipment, accessories attached. Dents, scratches, paint chips, and anything else must be documented or you will never get paid if it shows up missing. Italians are horrible for stealing from the military. Germans are good. I'd talk to some other folks who ship civilian vehicles. Just be prepared to document everything down to the last screw...lol. I'll show you a inspection sheet if I can find it.

Thanks! Last time we checked shipping via RoRo from Newark to Liverpool was the cheapest. Was thinking that that route would be reasonably safe from petty theft. Our challenge with the standard 20’ container is that we’re about 3” too tall, I’ve even tried lowering the tire’s air pressure down to 14lbs and only lost an inch of sidewall! Must be the load E sidewalls doing their job too well

Low rider tires. Find some crappy 15" 6x4.5?????? wheels, find some old 15 tires and rock those. Maybe come up with some room. Or, deflate the tires, block it, and inflate at receiving.

Yeah cheap rims only have to clear the rotors, good idea. Was afraid of popping the bead going below 14 psi as people have recommended going with 45/55 psi front/rear. It was weird when deflating them down, the tires were acting like run flats. I’ll have to try dropping the psi again
